Smart! I like your idea of being able to bang out a hard bag. Showing what the hard bags can do to a leg is a game changer for us along with your suggestion that after a drop or two the hard bags get less waterproof.

I have the Mosko Moto 35L panniers and 40L duffle bag along with the locking straps that allow me to cinch down and lock the bags tight so they are less likely to be stolen or rifled through. I weave my straps through the beavertail and the locking bar and I can lock my jacket and helmet to the bag when I leave my bike to go into a store or restaurant. I definitely recommend getting the locking straps from Mosko Moto as they will key the locks all the same.

In my opinion.. Soft bags are the way to go. 1. When they are full they are full. But when empty you can roll them up . 2. Soft bags are lighter. 3. You can use them as a pillow if need be. 4. In a crash the hard cases can be bent out of shape and not close or seal correctly. 5. Its less likely to get your leg pinned back by them in a crash. And my list could go on In my opinion the hard case only has 2 pluses. 1. They are more secure from thieves trying to steel your things. 2. Won't tear when driving by sharp objects ( branches , rocks etc). Lol final note: I LOVE MY SUZUKI DR650!

On the bigger Adventure bikes, the hard bags may be ok for highway and light duty gravel road use. But, on any off road bike for true “off-road” use, regardless of size, soft bags are the only way to go. There is a no pair of boots that will protect you if pinned by the hard luggage. Not worth the risk. Adam and Freddy were very fortunate to have support close by and get him help. Having Doc, a military medic, on the team was very good in this case, but highly unusual. Ride safe my friends! Have a great time in Sturgis. Looking forward to your next video!

I still think I’d opt for a lighter enduro bike like a Husky 501, with a desert fuel tank, and pack Light with only something on my back, as though I’m hiking the Pacific Coast Trail. Bulky bags out on the sides of those bikes look like ones balance and lack of maneuverability is totally compromised. I might be wrong, but it just does look the right part.

I gotta get some soft bags. I have the hard bags that I purchased with the bike and they're serving me well for now, but I do hope to be doing some more adventures in the future and I will be getting soft bags. For now, I am using my bike as my only transportation at school and need the security. I don't see it as really a difficult choice at this point - both hard and soft bags have their place, but neither do it all really.

I have both and I've found that when I fall over, the soft luggage allowed my foot to be sometimes crushed and even pinned me in a couple rides, where the hard luggage offers room to prevent crushing and or trapping me.. I have never had my foot pinned between the ground and the hard case, so maybe it's a preference, but I find it safer for hard luggage..

You would be amazed at the security a bike cover provides. Thieves like to see (or how they will steal) what they are going to steal and will typically ignore a covered bike. Granted, if I had a computer or drone I’d take them out. I always cover my bike if it’s goi g to sit. I like soft luggage. A crash is just too hard on mounts. I’d also avoid soft luggage that have “quick mounts” they can brake too. I keep several straps and can strap down soft luggage. Not so easy with hard panniers. Soft luggage also has a lot more storage flexibility if u really need it.
