Hello, I was lucky enough to play guitar on both the original and acoustic official versions of Before You Go - (alongside Lewis' guitar on the original, but it's all me on the guitar acoustic version). This video gives a loose guide to what I played on the acoustic version. Apologies for lack of tab or notation - neither of those things are my bag, so it's just a general clue and vibe of what's been played. I can't remember exactly what I played on the recording anyway, because I was quite drunk at the time... oh yeah and sorry for the continual zooming in and out - my phone loves a good freak out. I'm a beginner so I couldn't understand most of the terms like 8th and riff, ooo boy I'm a long way to go, but besides all of that I still enjoyed this alot and plan on learning more from this video, definitely will revisit this every month or something like that, you're amazing man !!

Love this song, love the style of the acoustic version. I was surprised to find the actual guy showing how it was played. Its 8.20 am otherwise I would be chugging down some red wine right now. Thanks for taking the time to do this. We want more, we want more, we want more yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Amazing video! Could you describe more or less what strumming pattern you use?

Thank you so much! It's more or less playing 16th triplets down up, down up most of the time with some muting going on in the left hand. On bar 3 of each loop I kind of do 3 up strokes in a row - sorry if that's super vague! I'd start off just playing down up continuously and working on which strums are accented... Def on bar 3 to my ear anyway x

Do you know if the original single is played in this tuning as well or did they play it in C with capo on 3 ? Thanks in advance

The main riff part in the original single is played without a capo I think, in standard tuning - hope that helps. Think when Lewis plays it live he uses a capo - but in a studio setting there were lots of layers that went on it, with different voicings ranging across the fretboard. It's so long ago now, I can't actually remember what I did haha!
