This was the worst day trip we've ever been on. A 7 minute video doesn't show the amount of time we spent waiting around and wasting time. We went with a tour group, because there wasn't any local buses to Dahab (from Sharm el Sheikh) that day.
We were told it would be an hour journey - it took 3.
We were told we'd snorkel & relax on the beach for 3 hours - We snorkelled for 10 minutes and the beach was not one you could relax on.
We were told we'd see the famous Blue Hole and Dahab town - but we didn't.
We're sure Dahab is incredible, but only if it's done the right way. So, we hope this video helps you to avoid the mistakes we made.

The picture of Blue Hole is actually Berlize, I believe. But next time just stay in Dahab and only go to Sharm for flying or diving/snorkeling trip. Dahab is far better than Sharm, considering atmosphere and prices. If you go again, ask me for info. I recommend you the good places, parties and restaurants. And no, I am not a tour guide ;) . Just a very frequent visitor with diving addiction.

Go with a native Egyptian. When my wife and I went to Egypt and Dahab we took our Egyptian friend with us. He had experience with Dahab since he goes at least once a year with friends and he speaks the language. He was able to open a lot of doors in a lot of ways. Plus he helped cut through some of the BS with pricing of goods and services. There are always two prices in Egypt the tourist price which is some times 3 or 4 times higher and the local price. We were able to get the local price on most things thanks to our friend. He also helped us a lot with the military checkpoints as well as we drove there. We often got waved through when he held up his Egyptian identification.

Yes you’re totally right. I think this is the best way. I would love to return to Dahab and experience it in a local manner, as it looks amazing there. Lesson learnt though!

The image you used at the bottom right of your thumbnail is the Great Blue Hole in my beautiful #Belize 🇧🇿 . That's not the blue hole in Dahab.

Oh, that's interesting! That's the photo used in the advertisement for this excursion, in the leaflet we were given. We really got scammed!

@@rhyias_rucksack Egypt is full of scams. I was everywhere from Giza to Soma Bay to Aswan. Best place was Aswan around the Nubians. Next time check out the Un-Belize-able country and see the Great Blue Hole via helicopter or boat.

I have to say , the title of this video is a bit misleading. Dahab is a lovely town. It’s a shame you never got to spend anytime there. You should re-title your video. We’ve got ripped off. Shitty trip from Sharm to Dahab. Funny video none the less. I did enjoy it 👍🏻.

Hey, sorry you found it misleading. However, this was just our warning of what NOT to do in Dahab. So we hope people would watch this and realise that going with a tour company might not be the best option. I’m sure Dahab is a lovely town, it’s a shame we didn’t get to appreciate that. I’m glad you found the video funny! Thank you!😁

Hey! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch my video, it really helps with my numbers. This wasn’t a package trip, just a one day excursion, since we couldn’t get to Dahab ourselves that day due to buses/trains not running. I hope other travellers chose to go themselves to avoid the troubles we had with our tour!

No, I think you misunderstood. We loved the reef along the Sharm coast. Some of the best I've ever seen. But just at this particular beach, we were disappointed since there was so much litter and we paid a lot of money to see something different. Yet the beach by our hotel that we could enter everyday for free was much more beautiful :)

Hey, thanks for commenting - it really helps us out :) We titled it 'Before You Visit Dahab - Watch This' because we think it's important for people to see what NOT to do during their visit, so they can have a better experience than us. In the thumbnail we wrote "Worst Trip Ever", because it was indeed the worst trip that we've ever been on, however as stated in the video, this was our own personal experience and we know that Dahab is actually a stunning place with lots to offer, it's just unfortunate that we were restricted by the tour company we went with.

The beach you were on looks nothing like Blue Hole and the photo you were shown is indeed Blue Hole but it's the Blue Hole in Belize. So sorry you were scammed like this. For future reference, anyone wanting to visit Blue Hole in Egypt (NOT Belize!!!) you can just jump in a taxi, it's just 10km up the road from Dahab.

I really like Egypt I've been there 4 times but is a, shame the Amount of rubbish everywere especially around Cairo. Is awful uneducated people that do not care about the environment but mainly is the fault of the government is so corrupted most egyptians make enough to just get by and survive but they make so little so the gov can control their lives. I have to mention that most egyptians, are very kind people and the Red Sea is definitely one of the most beautiful places to snorkel or dive in the world. I like your honest video I hope your trip got better after this. 🤗😀👌💜

Hi, thank you so much for your kind comment! I agree, it's such a shame about the rubbish, education is definitely required! The Red Sea is the best ocean I've snorkelled in, amazing!! This day was just a bad one, but the rest of the trip was incredible - Egypt is one of my favourite countries! :)

Dahab is the best place that I have visited ever. It does not mean that your trip was bad, Dahab remains the same

Im so glad you had a great trip there! Of course Dahab remains the same, but people’s experiences will be different, so we shared ours. And as expressed in the video our trip was actually bad, but that is not the fault of Dahab, it is the fault of the tour company we went with, because they didn’t show us the beautiful areas that we heard so much about.

I lived in dahab for years Man, I hate those useless travel agencies, dahab has crazy beautiful spots, sea and desert (blue hole just one oft them) it’s a super small area but I would advice you to stay at least a week if u r comfortable with doing a visit everyday.

Such a shame you had such a bad experience with your tour organiser. The place where you snorkelled seems to be just an somewhere along the road spot and is definitely not one of the nice snorkeling spots Dahab has to offer. Probably because the amazing and beautiful blue hole is protected and requires a fee.

Thank you for your comment. You’re right. We were just further down from the blue hole (7 minutes by car) I believe. But they refused to take us. I know people can swim there but maybe there is a fee and they didn’t want to add to the cost of the tour. I’m not sure.

As far as I know, there's a ten dollars fee for the Blue Hole.

@@rhyias_rucksack I believe your bad experience was due to the tour organizer. Maybe they did not take you to the Blue Hole to avoid the fee or maybe because the Blue Hole is known for scuba divers accidents and they feared involvement in a potential incident, who knows. When I visit a foreign country, I prefer to do my research and travel without tour guiding. I understand it may seem a bit scary being in a country you do not know, especially if you do not speak the native language but it is not so bad and it gives you freedom. Talking to the hotel staff (they always speak English) can replace to a high degree the need for a guide. Good luck next time. :)

Who has forbidden you what you want to do? I know Dahab and I know that you easily may find great Beduin guides, having a map and a fist of change you can take a taxi and go to many places around. You are really strange people.

Haha the tour company we went with stopped us visiting the blue hole, that was the problem. We got the guide from Sharm El Sheikh but I’ll bare your recommendations in mind for the future - thank you. You seem nice :)

Dahab is a place to discover and enjoy on your own and not have an organized tour, it's unfair to judge the city based on that shitty tour you took. PS that's no average sea, I live in your country and I can with all confidence tell you that did you compare it with your beach at all?.

Hey! You're right, that's why I mentioned we took a tour, so that people would avoid this and go by themselves. I believe Dahab is beautiful but we didn't get to experience this, sadly. Of course I did not compare the sea to the UK's LOL. In the video I say that the beach at our hotel back in Sharm El Sheikh was nicer. Plus, I have travelled to many countries and beaches around the world and this beach, filled with litter, is not the best. The Red Sea is the one of the best, but this area not! :)

Hi, yes I know it's not the blue hole, that was our problem, we were on an organised trip to the blue hole but they took us somewhere else lol. I'm glad we are boring enough for you to watch the whole video and still have time to comment - thanks!!
