Great servo advice. I laugh when people say small airplanes don't need accurate servos because they are made of foam. The S3114.s are better performing than the larger 17 gram S3101 servo that has a 5 pole motor I used that had 2 clicks of trim play in the gears where theS3114's have no play at all. An amazing servo and worth the money for such a small 3D plane. But the digital versions would be even better as long as the BEC used could handle the current. Have you ever tried the digital version? These servos are in a class all their own it seems despite using a 3 pole motor. I'd think Futaba would update them at some point to coreless as the little 3D planes that could use it are not going away anytime soon. As usual you get what you pay for and Twisted Hobbies has really come along ways and is producing some supper nice foam to pack your servos in.

I really want to see you do a review on the e-flite umx yak 54 180, I am torn between the inverza and it. I want one of those because they are the only 3d planes that my local hobby shop stocks.

I hope I'm not too late, but definitely go with the UMX Yak. The Inverza is a little more advanced in my opinion, and the Yak is extremely easy to fly.

In the video, you say you have a Team Motor 2404 motor on the plane, but you show a picture of a T2402. Which one do you have on the plane? And which motor do you have on the flight review video of this plane? Thanks.

Wound you recommend this over the Crack Yack for a beginner 3D (durability ). I have fliwn warbirds and wings for years.

What motor would you use that can be found today that would keep it floaty but food still in some wind. Thank you.

Thanks for the great review. I have been flying RC airplanes such as the Parkzone T28, and the Great Planes Electrostik for a bit over a year. I can do basic sport maneuvers. A friend got hold of a Laser and brought it out to the field. He let me fly it a bit and I went nuts .... just all giggles for the three minutes I had it. I was looking at TH planes and was thinking of the Yak 55 or this one, but after watching your video, I am going with the Laser. I am totally new to 3D and I think this will be perfect. Plus, you can fly it sport as well. What a great plane. Do you think I should go with the recommended Power Combo from TH (19 gram motor), or should I step up to the 26 gram motor. I will be flying it outside almost exclusively, usually in wind under 7 or 8 mph.

If you are flying outside the majority of the time, I'm always a fan of more power. I'd go with the slightly larger motor. Thanks, Voro

Hi there great review, just wondering if twisted hobbies do a slick 360 or 540? Thanks

Hello, To my knowledge, they do not make a Slick version, however this Laser flies very similar and I would recommend it above all other Foam 3d airplanes. Thanks, Voro

Twisted Hobbies has bazillion foamy plane models and I have the Crack Yak - is there much difference in the way all these models fly? I can't see much if any difference between the models watching them on You Tube. Just wondering.

I have never built an rc plane, so I am nervous about buying this, is there adequate instructions and how do I know which motors are safe to use and wont cause nose heaviness?
@VoroxioN
@VoroxioN 10 жыл бұрын
There is a very nice PDF instruction manual that twisted hobbys puts out. You can find it on the website where you order this particular plane. Also, this plane allows room for error, it'll still fly well even if you do not build it perfect. Thanks, Voro

Alright I went back to RC forums and asked. I am about ready to order here in the next day, so just triple checking. Red Laser, power pack option, amazon charger (one they use in example photo on twisted with that dock that charges up to 8 Lipos), amazon DX6i remote control, the little things like glue and tape that were recommended, and 8 2s 450 batteries. Am I good or what am I missing out on?

Looks great! I would buy 2x tubes of Welders glue for building, about 4-5x props (Size is 8x4.3 Slow Fly). Double check the charger to make sure it's a whole charging unit and not just the adapter board. You're also going to need a receiver for the plane, I'd recommend an AR400. Finally, I'd recommend purchasing the DX6i off of horizon hobby (fantastic hobby company), that way you can receive the warranty. www.horizonhobby.com/products/dx6i-dsmx-6-channel-transmitter-only-mode-2-SPMR6610 I hope the plane works out for you, it's a great plane to build and fly. Take your time building it and have fun. Voro.

I went ahead and purchased my order from TH, came out to $320. I got the AR400 and 2 tubes of welders, and a bottle of CA. For props I bought the props and I think the power package option comes with some as well. The forums recommend agains the DX6i however, and many say go 8 or go home. They said you can not get full power from the servos with the 6?
@VoroRC
@VoroRC 10 жыл бұрын
GoProHero2Day I have never heard of that before. I still recommend the DX6i. Thanks, Voro

+GoProHero2Day I know this is an old comment but what I suspect the comment about the 6 not giving the 'full power' from the servos is referring to the ability to increase the throws beyond 100% in the transmitter. Not power, but distance.

7200 feet?? I thought FAA allowed max altitudes of 400 feet?
@yourbestversion3942
@yourbestversion3942 5 жыл бұрын
Bob Rosso lol his current location is 7200 feet above see level. It sort of threw me off when I first heard him say that too. Most RC planes (profile foam planes) are flown from 1-20ft high. So if he is at 7200ft then he is flying at 7201-7220ft. So the FAA would come into play at 7600ft in his case lol 😂
