I really like making ambient around 33-45 BPM, with less emphasis on rhythms and timing. I think it leads to feeling like you're in another world in a different way, but of course any approach is just as good as the next.

I make (as in made my first album) at 130 bpm but time stretched it and pitched it down to make it sound more like you’re floating in an intergalactic void rather than listening to a goofy electronic piece
