I literally have recurring nightmares that I forgot I had certain fish tanks and haven’t been feeding them and the water is evaporated down to just a few inches when I remember them and rush to check 😱😱😱

South American puffers, avocado puffers, fahaka puffers MBU puffers, and Congo pufferfish are all freshwater puffers. That's just the name a few but I think you're right that is a green spotted puffer it looks very similar to thie south American puffers. They can live in freshwater for extended periods of time but do way better in brackish water. Sad part is most pet stores sell them in freshwater as fresh water fish.

Just finished cleaning my 15 gallon earlier today and I accidentally bump it and saw a crack on the sides. I had that tank for almost ten years and the durability had been tested earlier. Luckily it not broken what a tank. This reminds me that no matter how careful I am in my waterchanges, accidents might strike any time. Keep safe everyone 😥 PS. the fishes (two angels are good)

My step sister recently got a betta, and since I have one I've been bestowing my knowledge of bettas on her. So far I've convinced her not to get a bowl, to get a tank kit at walmart that's about 30 dollars for a five gallon to replace the tank she got without a lid, that came with no filter. And I gave her my betta mirror that I no longer use, taught her how to use it. And cut my varieties of betta food in half (I ordered them online and the packages were a lot bigger than I was expecting, I only have one betta so theres no way I would be able to use all of the food up before the expiration date), which ended up being six containers of different food. She got a pretty candy koi betta, and she didnt do any research before hand. So I let her know that if she has any questions to ask me, and I emphasize that. He isnt even my betta, but I'm so worried about his survival lmao

I went to my tropical fish society meet last night. Someone brought in some awesome yellow and super red cherry shrimp. I was out bid in the auction by a 12 y/o boy. I'm an adult female, with a job and everything! 😭

for a first puffer i recommend a red congo puffer they are out and swimming around more than most of the puffers i have own. but still a dragon(humpback) is by far my favorite so far better colors(can change from dull browns to bright golds when happy with good care) just expect it to hide a lot if you make a lil cave for it...

You were the inspiration that inspired me save bettas from my local big chain pet store. My first one was very pale and is a plakat,he was VERY aggressive towards anyone who came near the tank and flared his gills and didn't eat much, but since i have bonded with him he is the biggest baby of a plakat and is gorgeous! My 2nd is a female and she had ripped fins and looked kinda stressed, When I was bringing her home she was IMEDIATLY became calm and just gave me this face of relief and thanks , Shes doing great now and is getting healthier and our bond is growing. I am currently working on saving up for more/bigger tanks and since starting homeschooling, I will have more time to try and grow betta awareness.

Just begun my platys breeder tank have came so far in 7 months from a fake plant community tank to a fully planted breeder tank. Thank for making me learn the right way instead years of fish abusive.

Chris, There are many fresh water puffers, not just Pea. I have Amazon puffers - 100% fresh water their entire life cycle. Also -- sometimes you comment on people having lowered water levels, even when they have a lid. I have Mystery snails. I keep the water level about 1" under the lid, so they don't crawl out and die trying to find a place to lay eggs. I have every opening I can find blocked, but they'll find a way out if there isn't a "rim" of no water at the top of the tank. We found your channel late, and have started watching from years ago. It's like binge watching NetFlix, only with more fish. And we don't only watch FTR, fyi. 13 out of 5. Keep up the good work.

Yeah my green spotted puffer AND my figure 8 puffers almost died because the lady at the fish store said they're fresh water. Thankfully I have a brackish tank for my eel. The puffers are alive and happy and the eel surprisingly doesn't mind the puffers. Gotta love how puffers move like little helicopters in the water lol.

Me and my betta watched this, so yes, it is fish certified that fft episodes make our day 100% better.

Sometimes, I'll go out of my way to correct new fish keepers that are getting bad advise from the 16 y/o clerk that clearly doesn't know anything. I advocate for all living things fish and insects included! And I always tell people to do their research! Keep on Gate Keeping! Lol I'm sure the fish appreciated it!

I miss my GSPs. Had a pair of them when I was stationed in Ft Irwin. Then I PCSed to Vilsec, and had to surrender them to an aquarium pet shop that specialized in salt water fish. I was a little concerned, because I had to explain the specifics on the care they needed to the shop owner. But he was the only one who would take them in.

So, for my first tank, I more or less set up a swamp type deal, putting gravel at the bottom, organic soil in the mid, and sand at the top, and mixed the sand and soil together to give it kind of a muddy bottom look. Put driftwood in, some plants in. The plants and driftwood alone cost me more than 50 bucks, and i'm still figuring out what to put in during the month cycle and plant growth.

The reason the dinosaurs are extinct is because rapashy camouflaged so well, when she was hungry she ate them all. This is a good explanation.

i actually looked up the pufferfish in question, its called a Dwarf Pufferfish and is generally small on its own and can survive in freshwater, so its mostly secure there, but i do like the idea of them having a water filter so the fish has good air, since stale water is harder to breathe in for fish.

Just upgraded my tank from a ten to a twenty gallon.The fish are loving it!

The best pufferfisch for sweetwater is peapuffer for smaller tanks (60l) or tetradon shoutodeni for up to 120l. Both are relatively peacefully and calm .I got one with my cichlid’s for years and is a cute happyboy.

Borneo suckers/hillstream loaches aren't too bad to catch with enough patience. Pin them against the glass and slide the net around gently and randomly for a little while, eventually they'll turn around and you can lift it out of the water with them safely inside.

I want to start some puffers this year, but all I got is a 20 gal full of breeding dwarf Rainbowfish. Hoping to finish with my house upgrades so I can get a bigger fishtank to get my Rainbow swarm more room and then take my 20 g and put 3-5 pea puffers in.

Spotted Congo Puffers (Tetraodon schoutedeni) are also easy to take care of fresh water puffers :) but they are pricy in the original investment and I don't think the one in the video is one.

The pufferfish died. Guy tried blaming the petstore for not telling him how to care for one and ignored most of the advice he was given. He upgraded to a 10 btw. He also keeps his lepeord gecko in less then ideal conditions

The first part of the video reminded me of when I was getting fish 😭I was a really dumb 8 year old and put it in a bowl despite the amount of time I spent deciding which one to get. That was my lesson learned and now I have a betta fish that is healthy. My tank did cost my New Years money but it was worth it lol

There is at least a puffer from the amazon thats fresh water and one from the nile - those get massive though ... There is carinotetraedon irrubesco also from asia and closely related to pea puffer. There is a tetraodon from the congo river that's supposed to be pure fesh water but not sure how true that is for other tetraodon which tend to be listed as fresh water in retail ...

I got a betta like 4 four days ago after I seen her at PetSmart last week. When I first seen her she was almost pure white and had no energy. I kid you not man she literally plagued my dreams til I got her. Turns out miss ma'am is an absolutely beautiful koi Betta with so much variety in color 🧍🏻‍♀️ plus she has such a personality too man I would have never thought.

An analogy I thought of the other day: When you're done with your (fake) Christmas tree after Christmas, you don't think " we should put this in the middle of our yard as a permanent installation, that would look really nice", because if you did that people would say that's a useless tree. Why don't you just plant a real tree there, because at least then there is a logical benefit. (It's just a no-brainer.) Rather than having a dusty hunk of useless plastic sitting in your yard. It's just better for the overall system to put live plants &trees, or nothing at all, just a plain lawn. You see where I'm going? If you use a more natural substrate, it's just better overall for your setup, and you'll find (once you get past the learning curve) that your tank isn't fighting against you nearly as much. Water is a natural material, It's going to hold nutrients and bacteria good and bad, as soon as you put a biological thing in it, so in order to work with that and not against it, you use natural filters, plants, biological matter. It takes those nutrients the algae would otherwise take up, and coat your plastic plants. This is WHY the hobby is so fun! You get to take a piece of nature put, in your house, build it yourself, and admire it, knowing that your hands take care of it, and you learn a whole ton about nature the longer you're in the hobby. I learn something new every time that I go out to get plants from an independent dealer, and I've realized more recently that I'm consistently and excitedly inspired every time I go and see someone else's tank that they've poured basically their souls into. It makes me proud to show off what I've done! It really is a gratifying hobby if you take the time to learn it. * Edit, Plus if I'm going to spend over $20 a pop, or way more, would I not want to showcase it in the most complimenting environment?? It would be absolutely insane and ridiculous to surround my parrot cichlid with a bunch of plastic, or my goldfish that I spent $35 on each with a SpongeBob tank, and potentially kill them in the process! Sorry this is a big comment, but I thought of all places, This is probably a good place to leave it. Appreciate what you're doing, Chris! You've made a big influence on my fish keeping :)

On Gatekeeping: I think it's completely acceptable for a first-time fishkeeper to use tacky gravel and fake plants. You gotta start somewhere. Just get a tank that is large enough for the fish to be comfortable and focus on keeping the water healthy (which includes not washing your substrate with soap..) I think rule of thumb is that a first-time fishkeeper should not have a tank smaller than 10 gallons and then do A LITTLE research on stocking.

I was looking forward to getting some fish for my new 29gal had it cycling for about a month tested the water saturday morning nitrates, nitrites and ammonia were all good then the ph was extremely high so waiting another week hopefully after water change when we test next weekend it will be leveled out

There are true freshwater puffers…like a ambulance, for example, which needs a 300 gallon plus tank, and can be four feet long😂😅🎉

The only way i can catch my kuhlis and mollies during tank cleaning, is to drain most of the water, then used nitrile gloves and just catch the fish by hand. All my fish will let me scoop them out by hand. But i bred my fish and have trained them to come up to my hands and let them swim against my hand in kinda a "fish self pet" but i only do this after using the hand soap i got from my LFS that is safe for all water fish.

I feel that those that put fish in small tanks should experience the chance of being sealed inside of a small room for a month and not be able to get out.
