In this video I give you some tips on how to find the binding pin in a lock. Every new picker struggles with this so here's a video to help.
Thanks to UKLS member One-two for asking the question.

Although it is fun to watch different challenge locks picked, it is always great to get tips on how it is actually done. Thanks!

Yes, that is very true. Most locks you will come up against in real life are quite simple, the purpose of the challenge locks is to increase your range of picking skills to help you deal with security pins, but often security pins are easier to pick than simple standard pins. Thank for watching!

Appreciate making this video for us new to this. Will give it a try. Transition from occasional random luck to an open, to a more deliberate approach.

Very good video, clear and easy to understand. Great info for beginners. And then there are locks where you wish they had spools to get some feedback ;-)

Nice What would you find if there were security pins?
@HobbyPicker
@HobbyPicker 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by, typically if you came across security pins, the lock would drop into a 'false set' whereby the core would turn just a little bit, but remain locked up. There are a number of videos out there on how to overcome security pins, mostly by locating the pins and very carefully controlling the tension whilst setting the pins.

Hallo, when i find the first binding pin it's feel so hard. Than i push him down and the lock wrench little bit. And than i can't finding the next binding pin because the pins feeling soft and not more hard. I don't understand this.

Hey there, This is a sure sign that you are over-lifting the binding pin, this is when you push the pin up too far. If you are very careful you can gently ease the tension and drop the pin back down to the shear line. I hope this helps.
