@BudgetLawns
@BudgetLawns 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I appreciate that. Always encouraging to hear that my intent for this channel is coming across. I must admit, though, I did have to get a reel mower. However, mine is manual and only cost me 107 bucks. Since bermuda likes to be mowed around an inch, I needed something that would allow me to do so on my bumpy lawn without scalping. The rotary only let me go down to 1.25 with scalp marks, especially in my back yard. I'm staying at that inch too. Played around at .75 and, dang, that's too much mowing to keep up the lower you go. Starts to take the fun out of it IMO. Thanks again. I appreciate your sub and support!

Thank you this video is perfect! I'm a first time home owner and bought my house last July. The lawn wasn't great to begin with and to be honest there were so many other projects I needed to do inside the house that I just ignored the lawn. But now I feel more settled and want a decent-looking yard. So many videos are overwhelming and way "too much" for the level of effort I want to put in. It's definitely feeling more manageable after watching your video.

Thank you so much for liking and subscribing. And the applause as well. It all really means a lot. Congrats on the new home! I get what you're saying. It frustrates me when people tell beginners to do non-beginner things. They just say those things to look smart I guess. Instead, it just discourages folks from even getting started as you said. Here's the most all encompassing video on did on bare spots, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/naqYp66Zqb7JlGg.html. Hope this helps. Depending on your grass type, you may have to seed (most cool season) or just let it spread (warm season) to fill in. Thanks again. Really appreciate you!

You’re crushing this videos! Putting everything out there in one spot. My only add, and I agree full heartedly that for beginners things like aeration, dethatching and so on aren’t necessary, depending on your lawn they may need to start understanding those steps sooner rather than later. For new constructions, there’s no thatch, the soil is mostly in prime condition to get that grass looking phenomenal! However, if you’re in an established home/land, dethatching MAY be a good and easy thing to do. However, like you said at the beginning, doing anything at this point is going to make the lawn look better than it did. Well done!

I have a question on the water part, when you say 1” of water, over large a lawn? Do you just sprinkle that can over the entirety of the lawn? And do you do all these over the year even into winter? Or are these Spring/Summer/Fall tips?
@BudgetLawns

These are mainly spring and summer tips. During the active growing season. The tuna can is just used as a gauge to collect water as the sprinkler is in use. When it fills up, you know you have an inch of water applied. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Really great advice all around. Stick to the basics and get those down solid before anything else. I love the answer you give when people ask about how to get a nice lawn because it’s 💯 true, you have to love it and it is a lot of work. For those that don’t enjoy it they will simply have to a pay a ton of money for someone else to do it for them. No magic products in lawn care.

Love your videos and guidance! What do you think about liquid fertilizer? If using liquid fertilizer, which one would you recommend? If you have too many trees and shade areas where grass is hard to grow, how do you go about growing grass in those areas? What do you recommend to use as for grass seeds (brand and type of seeds). Thank you. I want to do it myself because the people who we pay to do the grass and lawn care take shortcuts and they are reckless. Any advice on what type of lawn mower. I live in Virginia (Northern Virginia). Thank you so much!!!
@BudgetLawns
@BudgetLawns 4 ай бұрын
Thank you. I do not using liquid fertilizer. I prefer granular. In shady areas, I recommend flower beds with plants that will thrive in shade. Before buying seed, you need to know what grass type will do best in your area. I prefer sod over seed. As far as mowers go, I really like my Troy-Bilt mower. It mulches and has been working great for about 12 years. Hope this helps.

Adding some tips: Make sure your lawn mower blade is sharp! Sharp clean cuts would allow the grass to grow and repair its self faster, reduces them getting infected with nasty growth. Do turns off the lawn if possible. If you don't mow your lawn often and the grass is too long, AVOID mulching. Too much grass mulch would suffocate the grass with no sunlight or air.

Good Afternoon, my name is Chris and 1st I would like to command on your insight and knowledge about lawn maintenance. My question is when repairing a yard is it best to put the fertilizer down 1st then seeds or seeds then fertilizer? And can you use the weed stop all in the same day????
@BudgetLawns
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
If you're putting a starter fertilizer down it should go down first then seeds. If not using a starter fertilizer you would wait until you have grass with roots developing to use a regular fertilizer. You do not want to use the weed stop when sowing seeds. If you kill weeds before, you should wait at least 2 weeks before seeding. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
