The muscle memory of calling Ex-Action “Heat Action”.

After playing Judgement Myself, There are a couple of ways to counter Mortal wounds. They depend on certain situations but it's important to keep them in mind. 1.) Run away, Certain Mortal Wounds can be dodged by simply running away from them. Some however, Like Hamura's Mortal wound attack have great range and tracking thus running away is not so strong against them 2.) Dodge, The Majority of Mortal Wounds are vulnerable to dodging. It's a reliable way of getting away from them if you desire it and should be practiced at all times. 3.) Wall attack. Like what Devileon says in his video, you can run up to a wall and use the triangle button to smack your opponent off the mortal wound itself, Very risky but for no meter worth it. 4.) Use Ex-Boost. Allows you to power through Mortal wounds but drain a massive amount of the heat guage in the process so useful in a pinch if you are sure you cannot dodge but will require you to build back up heat once you do so. 5.) Heat Actions. My favourite way of countering Mortal Wounds. When you see an enemy prepare to do a mortal wound, try to find a weapon and run up to the enemy with it. You will be able to completely cancel out their mortal wound attack and retaliate with an attack of your own, punishing them for trying to use a mortal wound in the first place. If you don't have any nearby weapons, use booze instead and immediately do the heat action associated with it, (Has to be an alcohol level of 6 or more to activate it, 2 bottles of jack daniels does the trick and immediately cancels out the booze effect). Does great damage and punishes enemies for standing still provided you can do it in time. So high risk for high reward and doesn't involve hurling yourself to a wall.

Don't forget the golden rule: Hold L2 to prevent heat actions so that you can use triangle moves anytime. Edit: Ex-actions*..

I recommend getting caught by the cops enough times - when you get caught, you'll see the cutscene where Yagami's being berated by a cop... then after you're let go, Yagami will have an inner dialogue about it, including that cop's name. The cutscene never changes but Yagami's inner dialogue does, and it somehow progresses into a very minor 'story' of its own. You'll get nothing out of it, but it in my opinion it just adds a tiny bit more to the game :)

I sound like a broken record, but I can't wait to play this game, and with it being so close, this guide came at the right time! That struggle with Heat/EX action naming tho lol

So it sounds like mortal wound fixed the issue of being able to cheese any fight by taking a ton of healing items.

As this game runs on Yakuza 6's engine, you can run away from enemies, even if you get caught in combat. Do not take too long fighting, or the cops will arrive, and you'll have to make a run for it.

I'll add that Flux Fissure is basically Perfect Channeling and you can do it anytime, so it's even more awesome.

Keep it up bro this is great stuff. Although I knew all of this I'm glad you shared this info. I find it funny how this game took a real yet bullshit with combat logic.

Okay I need some help understanding this here. In the Basic Attacks menu I am seeing a bunch of attacks show the input then followed by "REVERSE" and then strong attacks. What the hell is a reverse? The manual never actually explains this. Or at least I haven't seen it. Also is there a way to actively disarm enemies? Like take their knives away? Rip their gun apart. Examples being the weapons disarm in the Batman Arkham games.

Gonna pick this up, something to play while I wait for yakuza 3, 4 and 5 .....

Judgment seems to be bringing a lot depth and variety that was missing in the newer Yakuza games. Also Leon I sent you a friend request on Ps4.

I'm a bit confused with combat in this game. Sometimes my attack bounced off and they hit me while i'm hitting them, interrupting my combo, but sometime they don't, is there anyway to deal with this beside wall attack or EX-boost? I notice the blocking animation they have but sometime it seem like they could hit back me anyway without blocking first.

Yagami is so lucky that he didn't face Jiro Amon in Judgment, his submachine gun is deadly af, especially with Mortal wound mechanic.

So..is this guy the fastest yakuza character we've played as yet? In terms of speed and abilities, he seems like he'll kick so many peoples asses.

Do you have to play the other Yakuza games so the data will carry over to judgement or this is totally different

I cannot get the timing of the Tiger style's rush combos down to save my life. It seems like he does one punch on the first button, which is strangely a very long animation, and then I can't get him to do anything else. No problems with Crane though. 🤷‍♂️ Also, every time I try a wall attack, Yagami decides to punch or kick the air no matter how many enemies are nearby. 2:22 might be the piece of the puzzle I was missing though (I'm pretty sure I was just running up to the wall and then letting go of the stick, pressing an attack button and assuming Yagami would find a guy on his own), I'll have to try again next time I play.

I've been playing for over 30 hours and thanks to this video, my dumb ass realized I'm supposed to hold the square button down the 'entire' time as Flux Fissure was charging. I was instead letting go of square before the prompt, and then trying to tap it again as the on screen prompt lined up. (Like a rhythm game). I was getting really confused as to why it was never working, and just chalked it up to me having a timing issue.

NGL, this game makes me miss the brawler combat so much. I loved Yakuza 7 and its turned-based system (since I grew up with Final Fantasy), but RGG actually took the brawler system in this game to new heights IMO. Too bad that they won't be using and evolving it for a while (unless we get Judgement 2).

Idk why but in Yakuza 0, I can only counter after I get hit, esp wif Kiryu. Even Kiryus grab attack in Dragon of Dojima style. I could only do 1 counter to 1 enemy each in each fight. So if I’m fighting Kuze for eg, I can only counter him once. Wtf 😂😂😂

It's to sad that Crane style isn't worth using over Tiger style, since it doesn't have skills related only to this style, Tiger style on the other hand has charge attack and flux fissure, and stability I believe that are all unique for the Tiger style. Aside from unique EX Actions and rush combos strings Crane doesn't offer anything unique. RGG studios got really lazy with Judgment.

I like the "arrest" mechanic, but I would like it more if the next protagonist would be stronger so fights could end faster.
