I wrote a letter to the manufacture telling them they better be paying you for your time and work. Thank you VERY much !!!!

Very nice. Couple of additional tips. Put your cell phone in "airplane mode" so you don't get messed up with texts and/or phone calls while flying. Second, one of your remote antennas was deployed backwards in this video. You want both with the flat side facing towards the drone.
@EdRickerVlogs
@EdRickerVlogs 7 жыл бұрын
Good point about the airplane mode. However, my remote antennae's don't turn that way. In order for them to point up away from the controller, they have to be oriented the way I have them in the video.

Very informative. I have had my Mavic Pro for a few months, but had to put it on the shelf for other priorities. Having to relearn the basics on vacation, I found this tutorial. As he says in the beginning, I wished I had known these tips when I first pulled it out of the box. The new (to me) world of drones can be overwhelming, and the DJI tutorials and guides leave a lot out for the beginner.

Really great video. I just received my mavic Pro today. However I've watched many other KZfaq videos. I always find that most people waste time running at the mouth and patting themselves on the back. You are very efficient and you get the point across quickly without a lotta crap. A lot of information in a short amount of time and that's what I like in any KZfaq video.

Pro tip: download all the manual PDFs from www.DJI.com - especially the Mavic Pro User Guide, which was not included in my brand new Mavic Pro I bought a month ago, and it contains a LOT more info than all the little printed booklets inside the Mavic box. That User Manual REALLY should have been included in the box, since there’s SO many features and settings and options and things to be aware of. Even after 45 Flights in 1.5 months with my Spark and Mavic Pro, I am still learning important new things all the time. (For instance: the DJI GO 4 app video settings default to 50hz for AntiFlicker, which only makes sense for Europe, and seems to result in weird flickering watching the videos on my HDTV. Anyone in USA should change that setting to 60Hz, I’m 99% sure. (Please comment if you have a definitive answer.)

Great Video Ed, thanks for sharing, really though, much of this stuff should be in the quick start manual, especially the IMU calibration. I flew my Mavic Pro three times before it randomly nosedived out of the sky, of course I got it fixed but it cost me £76.00, it was three weeks old and had been flown three times :( But DJI insisted it was user error, which it certainly wasn't. Had I know about some go the stuff in your video perhaps it would not have happened. Thanks again for the vid. I like your style!! :)

Important couple of extra points for beginners: * Never start a departing procedure on a dirty place like he did. The Mavic Gimbal is way to much sensible, and any particle can obstruct the motors. * if you play games of any kind, you can change the function of both the axis, so it can fix better for you taste (Controller settings). * You can enable the extra 30° of camera inclination so you'll be able to look up when flying (Settings》Gimbal》Advanced) * On aircraft settings, adjust the level of break. I reccomend just a little more than the standard. Anyway you like. * To take good pictures on extreme dark environments, change to Manual mode (M), ISO to 800 and raise the Shutter to more than 1 sec. Don't move the aircraft until the photo is done. * NEVER transport the drone without the Gimbal Clamp. Again, it's really sensible. * The height is measured according to the start point, not the level of sea. *Always observe the terrain around for long flights. Adjust the height for automatic return (RTH) based on the tallest thing observable. *You CAN actually use the Gimbal helmet to fly, unlike what he said, but never the clamp. In fact, the gimbal cover is a good way to fly in dangerous places and it does not affect the aircraft at all. Note: The helmet blurs the image a little. Good flight

imagine if you will, going back in time to..ohh...hmm...1964 and go to an RC model hotspot with the Mavic Pro. The guys back in the day would freak! People spent fortunes to fly their garage made planes and the tech was extremely low in comparison. I'm 60 years old and blown away with the "progress" of modern living. The technology of today is awesome and the future looks bizarre with unknown discoveries!
@wilfdarr

Dude! I'm in my thirties: when I first got into RC, helicopters were $2-5k. No kid could afford that! Now, with 4k video, autonomous flight, etc they are $500! And that's not correcting for inflation. My dad took a sled to school so, ya, that's where we've come in 80 years…

@wilfdarr
@wilfdarr 7 жыл бұрын
Camden B Sorry yes I know the Mavic is more, I meant that you can get an off brand with 4k video and basic return to home for as little as $500. The old nitro helicopters didn't have hover, return to home, and certainly not 4k video (heck you might have rigged a simple battery powered 35mm with a servo triggered shutter but no video camera of that time would have been light enough for a $5000 RC helicopter. We've come a long way! And that was only about 25 years ago.

Good times indeed!! I shot and edited this video in an afternoon/evening...never knew it'd blow up the way it did. Sometimes you never know what will take off. Good seeing you in the live stream the other night!

@@EdRickerVlogs same here, it’s great that you ended up going toward fpv. I think you were one of the first in the Gps camera drone sphere side of KZfaq to really take a look at that side of things.

Thank you for this. My Mavic pro platinum will arrive in a couple of days and I have no idea how to fly it. And now I have an idea from you. Will check your other videos. Thanks and keep them coming 👍

When you said you are not flying in wyfi what does that mean? Rc? And wyfi? What's the difference bud? What mode do you usually fly on? Also I use an iPad mini and my iPhone 6s Plus, I do have to set this up in both items correct? Ps your maximum distance is set to 2000 meters not 200 bud. 😊👍🏼

You can fly it with just your phone too. For that Mavic will create it's own wifi network. So on WiFi mode, you can fly with just your phone and in RC mode you use the remote controller. WiFi has around 260ft distance while RC has around 2.5 miles (CE) or 4.3 miles (FCC).

+84 Tubbs 2000 is definitely in a no-fly zone a lot of people fly below 400 ft stealth Choppers stay off of radar by fly under 500 ft and mask movement bye moving in sync with an electrical object in motion

Great video, nice and straight forward. The is almost NO actual ,instructions packaged with the Mavic Pro and most of the videos seem to skip from election at opening the box to flying and making amazing videos. What some one need to do is explain all the starting stuff so you dont end up in a tree like me!

Question: firmware update out of the box too? At the moment there is a version 3 for the drone and a version 2 for the controller but should they not be the same version i.e. downgrade the Mavic to match the controller?
@EdRickerVlogs
@EdRickerVlogs 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, thanks for watching! My firmware was actually up-to-date right out of the box. However, if you connect the controller to the drone and app with cellular connection, it will scan the devices automatically and update the firmware very easily. As for a firmware discrepancy between the controller and the drone, I don't know...mine seems to match. That's odd to me.

Well, there is no real instructions because they don't expect people to buy this as "learning drone". I guess..

Thank you so much for this video, I tried the manual with their super FinePrint and was rather discouraged, your video was clear and concise and was exactly what I was looking for as a first-time Mavic Pro drone pilot. I have subscribed and I'm looking forward to some of your other videos.

The best advice I can give a new Mavic owner is: Remember To Remove The Gimbal Guard!! And then keep it off because you're gonna forget to take it off someday.

Just like I have seen on military aircraft before flight time, add a red banner remove ribbon to the Gimbal Gard. The company should have done it.
