Thanks, I enjoy and learn from your lessons. The letting go concept between chords is an awareness that is helpful. I could sure use some advice playing Ring finger barre chords (5R35). Example is a C triad, played with 3rd finger barre on 5th fret and 1st finger on 3rd fret. It seems very difficult to avoid deading the top string with the ring finger barre.

Great exercise. I struggle with getting to the G chord sometimes and relaxation but this helps. For some reason I find G7 easier than G, weird. And sometimes I get so zoned out on the four strums that I forget to go to three-two-one!
@UkuleleZen
@UkuleleZen 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing that Dave. There is something Little more natural feeling about the angle of the fingers when playing G7… I don't know what it is but I've heard it from a lot of students. I would recommend you play with the weight of your hand & the position of your palm… Just softly adjusting, you'll find a nice balance point for your G major chord. Enjoy & play on! 🤙🎶

Enjoy your site, especially your tips. My rogue fingers are solid with the letting go it is the getting back that is still awkward. My middle finger seems to do as it pleases, do you have any tips on taming insubordinate fingers?
@UkuleleZen
@UkuleleZen 4 жыл бұрын
My middle finger sometimes goes rogue too (har har har...). What might be happening (hard to say exactly without being in the same room of course) is when you take the fingers away you may be lifting them off a little too high off. Try keeping them a little closer to the strings/neck. They can lift off, relax & they'll find a place where they're out of the way the strings but not so far away that it's hard to snap them back in action when you want to play the next chord. All of this of course is related to the economy of motion...thanks for watching Will - go subscribe to this channel for more videos like this one 🤙🎶

This may seem cheesy but i also know that I panic and thus freeze between chords because I'm not moving fast enough... which I'm not going to do if I'm freezing in panic... 😜
@UkuleleZen
@UkuleleZen 4 жыл бұрын
Not cheesy at all - thanks for being willing to say that. Just move through the changes slowly until they feel natural...everyone is on their own course & timeline. Please know that sometimes the quickest way to reach our goals....is too move slowly & carefully ;-). (My experience with it anyways...) Be well Natasha!

I’m sure I’m not the first, but that transition from C to G sux! I feel physically other abled. Is there a reason we don’t have the first and second finger switched? Caus then the second finger would be closer to the Am position making the transition from C to G to Am to F more fluid. I’m a total rookie with any stringed instrument and am in my 50’s. I played Sax 40 years ago and was decent. I can get the G but it seems to take me 30 seconds in the transition. I’m sure it’s normal. Just checking
