Interesting info, but what would make it even more helpful would be to describe exactly what constitutes low- or high-quality compoments. Could you give examples of particular brands or models and show specifically what makes them good or bad, so we know what to look for? Thanks.

Whoop whoop m8, I just got my LY Drop Hammer today - also a complete beginner (42yo). Went out to a parking lot today, tightened the trucks a full turn, and had some practice in the sun. Great video indeed!

I went for the DB Longboards Bear. It’s only 33”, but has monster 90mm wheels and rolls for days with minimum effort. The size makes it nimble and easy to push, but gives you enough stability for comfort on longer cruises.

Really enjoy watching your videos Bro! Love the level of detail and the way you present. I’m more or less new to skating (skated as a child) returning to it as an adult - I bought a Dinghy Blunt Pinecone from Landyachts but now I’m thinking I should have got a Drop Cat instead...maybe I still keep the Dinghy but which size Drop Cat would you recommend 33” or 38” - I’m 5’10”, size 10UK feet) - I’m planning to just cruise and develop that skill set. I know you already reviewed the 33” but I don’t recall if you covered the 38” and what the differences would be. Any help would be much appreciated. Keep up the videos. Thanks

The Drop Cat 33 will be a bit narrower and not as comfortable. The 38 will be the mroe forgiving fo teh 2 to ride. It's what I recommend - the 38

Great video! I'm so glad I found your channel. I love your very in depth reviews. At 5'10" and, for the time being, 220 lbs, I've pretty much decided on the Drop Cat 38". You have me intrigued about the Comet though. Would you recommend that for a complete beginner? The trucks look a bit narrow to me which concerns me to start on. I'm thinking maybe save that one for splurging on later after I get comfortable riding. Any thoughts?

Hey man, glad you like the videos!! Yes your right, the Drop Cat 38 is an awesome choice. And honestly, the Comet is a great choice too. It seems a bit narrow, but it's fine and some how isn't a problem for this board (I think its because it is long and flrxy enough that you have enough space to put your feet). I'd save that one of later like you've said, but it's a good option if bought first too (waiting times are a bitch tho)

Thanks for another informative video. I own the Switchblade 40 Pinecone, (a tamer Switchblade) which works great for me learning downhill and for cruising. I've been seeing a lot of Surfskate videos, what's your opinion on those boards? Is it just a gimmick?

In your experience, what's the longest distance the comet can work with before it overstays it's welcome? I've been thinkin about getting a cruiser for commuting to places, and the comet has me interested in that regard.

You can check out my Comet review for more in-depth info on that. I've taken it about 5-10km (3-6miles) comfortably before I felt I would have liked a proper distance board or something just lower with bigger wheels

What is good for handling downhills? Nothing too steep but something that doesn't give me speed wobbles. I have two Landyachtz cruisers, a dinghy and a tugboat. But they give me speed wobbles and scares the hell out of me lol

Longer boards are better for downhills. They can handle speed a bit better

What did you think about sector 9 boards? Or witch sector 9 board would you recommend als a Cruiser?

Sector 9 Lookout. If you are 5’10” or under, or want a more nimble board, go shorter on the board length, like a 35.” If you are taller like 5’10” or want a more stable board or have a wider stance, go with a longer board like a 41.” You’ll probably want to upgrade the bearings from ABEC 5 to something like the Sector 9 race bearings or some Bones Reds. Landyachtz Drop Cat is also a great cruiser. If you want a surfy, carvy feel, get a Sector 9 pintail or a Landyachtz Super Chief

Hey man I loved the video it was really informative! I just had a question I'm 5'8" and 235 lbs and debating between the drop hammer and the drop cat. Which do you think would be a better option for me for cruising/carving and really mild downhill?

Hi, after watching your video 3times finally i can decide comet cruiser is my choice, but but but why 6month tho 😂😂😂.. i dont have that kind of time to wait, can you please guide me what to buy to setup custom cruiser? any part you recommend from deck, truck, bushing, riser, bearing, to wheels to build the best cruiser? I think that will be the path for me at least to get the closer feeling of having comet cruiser or better. Much appreciate your videos here, awesome content 👍🏼🔥🔥🔥

The comet cruiser is perfect but the wait time sucks. A good alternative is the Landyachtz Ripper. Get it, get some bigger 70mm wheels, flip the roadside washers on the trucks and you get a really good feeling board. Use my discount code on Landyachtz!

@@sosogood7375 you just untigjten the kingpin, remove the nut, and flip the first washer you see. It just puts the flat side against the kingpin and allows for more turn from the truck. It makes the Ripper feel more surfy and fun

@@downhill254skate hi, just notice that there are 2 setup to the ripper, Setup 1 - 130mm Polar Bears & Fatty Hawgs - more agility & is better for carving. Setup 2 - 155mm Polar Bears & EZ Hawgs - more stability & is easier to slide. Which one do you think would be close to the comet cruiser? Next question is, what wheel should i buy to replace it, orangatang or plowking 72mm?

What are the best boards for both cruising and down hill if you want the best of both worlds without buying 2?

A single kick DH board with a small wheelbase. Also a split angle for stability without lack of manuverability. Eg. The Landyachtz Freedive or Rayne Skyline

Many other examples out there. Look for a stiff single kick, with a WB option between 23-24, and a width of about 9.2-9.5inches. Others that come to mind are the Omen Sugar.

Drop cat. The flex makes it sooo comfortable and absorbs loads of road vibrations. Clutch for skating fast

it is funny because for the comet you said "high quality trucks" but for the loaded just said "fairly standard trucks" when both of them uses paris trucks which is one of the best trucks on the market 😂👌

Comet replaces the bushings on the trucks. They use aftermarket Venom shr bushings. Loaded doesn't replace the bushings. That's the difference between them ... also you're paying way more than you should for the trucks with loaded I feel
