I'm 77 and I'm going to do my first wooden model ship. Thanks for the instructions. I finished the plastic Golden Hinde. I have never done any models before 6 months. I have done 4 cars and the Hinde. Now I want to try wooden.

When using CA glue, position the piece of wood where it will be and apply the glue. It will wick in to all of the surrounding surface area. Don't apply the glue and try to place the part.

CA was created use by medics during the Vietnam war to close wounds. Hence the reason why it sticks to skin so well.

Are you using the thin, watery CA glue? It’s soaking into the wood too fast. Put some on the wood as a sealant, then when it’s dry, do the actual gluing. Or, find CA gel. It takes longer to set, but it won’t soak into the wood as fast. That’s what I use on balsa airplanes.
