Thanks for watching this amazing two parter with me! I must apologize one more time for the audio recording error from the previous episode. I recorded all of these back to back! I recorded everything on one audio track, so I couldn't separate mic and episode audio. Next episodes will be better!

My reaction watching this was just like yours…The writers are out of this world… We are bonded forever. We will be together for all of your life times and we will never give up. Those 2 lines are so epic and if your a true fan they hit sooo deep 🔥

The first time I watched this I couldn't even put words on what I was feeling ... To this day I still get goosebumps on that line "we are bonded forever" That's why I love watching reactions like yours cause I can put myself in your shoes and it's like watching it for the first time again. Thank you so much for this ♥️

I always find it odd that some people think Raava picks a new Avatar when the old one dies. Did they not hear that line?
@Geoffery_of_Monmouth
@Geoffery_of_Monmouth Ай бұрын
@@kryptonianguest1903 You'll find that, in general, the ATLA fandom fails to hear a lot of things. Even a brief perusal of the subreddit will reveal that a large portion of people's memory of the show(s) are invented headcannons. There's no fandom quite as good as ATLA's at selective hearing and making shit up.

I'm always impressed at how quickly you pick up some of the bigger questions a show will start to ask, sometimes before the show even asks it directly itself. Is keeping darkness under control and contained actually representative of a balanced world?
@nickjames8726
@nickjames8726 Ай бұрын
Yes. It should be in proportion, that’s all it suggests. No more, no less. Darkness being controlled or contained is merely an expression; a way of saying keeping it from taking over. At the same time light gains no advantage. Because it never overwhelms or destroys darkness, it stays in proportion itself. The effect of Vaatu’s proper relative size and power means chaos and darkness still permeate the world, it still wins battles and crumbles attempts at order, just not constantly and completely. It’s not a victory. As Wan says, Vaatu being locked up still grants him influence. At the same time Raava is bound…to a soul and a body. The fight they have still occurs in more subtle ways than if they had direct agency, flying around or crashing across the landscape. And the world carries on quite well. By contrast, should one of them dominate, it would eliminate the mechanisms of nature brought by the other and possibly threaten the stability of life itself

This 2 parter is the highlight of book 2, and turns an otherwise, not a bad season but not as good as season 1 to a great season. Book 2 really picks up after this as everything begins coming together. But yeah, I teared up too at the ending especially of Wan's life.

I adored the bonds Wan made...and the culmination of that as he begins his true role after Vaatu's imprisonment into Wan's eventual death. Raava seeing his side and Wan seeing hers, and their bond that can only be briefly touched on in this summarized epic. It makes his final moments truly moving if you get your head IN it. I felt it. Wan being completely exhausted after some nameless, numberless battle, and realizing humanity and the world still got the better of him somehow after a lifetime of service with a power he thought gave him some means to fulfill a peaceful world goal - that hopeless tragic feeling being comforted by Raava's wisdom is so moving. For Wan to breathe that final breath as an ultimate relief is so beautiful, along with Raava being with her friend and teammate through the ages.

🥲 The lion turtle looks like Gamera. I read once that the earth was riding the back of a turtle, who was in turn riding the back of a turtle, and the answer to creation is the phrase "turtles all the way down". Wan's friends are jack hammers. I love the spirits, especially Ai Ai! Thanks bunny! I see you fixed the sound 🎉.

I love these episodes, too 😃. My theory is that all benders are reincarnations of people granted bending abilities by the lionturtles. We see from the Avatar that the power carries across from one lifetime to the next and we don't see any other way to gain bending from scratch. I think there was a period without bending because the first generation who lived away from the lion turtles had no reason to believe that it could be taught and we know that someone born with the ability needs to be taught (Except that Korra had some bending ability without being taught. Maybe the Avatar could still bend during this period?). This leaves room for animals like skybison and dragons teaching the first of a new generation of benders after the period without bending.
@bunnytailsREACTS
@bunnytailsREACTS Ай бұрын
I thought that the bending was passed down through their genes but your theory does explain why certain animals can bend as well!

I absolutely loved this - sadly, not everyone agrees, but I am with you. I don't understand, but this story about Wan is cited by many of don't like LoK as the reason - they say it spoiled the Avatar universe. I can't see how, to me it fits like a hand in a glove and completes the lore - it causes it all to make more sense.

I love seeing something concrete like this as to how the Avatar first came about. It helped me to better appreciate the world and the Avatar's journey thus far. I didn't really find that it contradicted anything established in The Last Airbender. I'm sure people could point of specific points but at the end of the day I'm just really pleased to learn more about the lore of the world.
@TheFireMonkey
@TheFireMonkey Ай бұрын
@@bunnytailsREACTS I don't believe it does contradict anything. I think some people just didn't want an explanation for some reason. Given that this was written by the same guys that created Avatar in the first place and it fits everything I can think of from Atla, I suspect this was a part of the original concept. Maybe not fleshed out completely, but the basic idea. I have noted, over the years, that in every fandom there are those who seem to object to anything past the original work. The story was written and it should not be added to. I have never understood it, but I have seen it.

Definitely one of the best parts of Korra. BTW, apparently the creators wanted to tell this story back in ATLA, but there wasn't enough time to add it back then. Maybe someone else can correct me if that wasn't the case? Still, great stuff.

Season 2 of Korra is not my favorite, but these two episodes are as good as anything in this whole series.
@CmdrKing
@CmdrKing Ай бұрын
For myself (and you’ll probably find this quite a bit if you look around online), I don’t care for the way Wan’s story interacts with the concept of the avatar as presented in the original show, or for how it presents the dichotomy between Raava and Vaatu where darkness and chaos are necessarily evil concepts rather than an aspect of nature like any other. It just felt more interesting and spiritual as originally presented where the Avatar was simply a necessary part of the natural world. BUT as a stand alone story by itself I also adore these two episodes, they tell a very complete arc for Wan and I am an absolute sucker for art style shifts. Honestly season 2 is probably the weakest of Korra and it’s sorta encapsulated here where there’s definitely good episodes and ideas but they feel really at odds with one another and don’t have good follow through. But it’s still an enjoyable watch for the most part.

Loved it when Wan became a fully fledged avatar and punched Vaatu in the face with a great big slab of earth! Beginnings was the best of Season 2! And one of the top 10 episodes of the franchise! Until I saw this, I was wondering where this season was going. Before Invincible, Yeun was the first avatar. Too bad he and J K Simmons didn’t have any scenes together in LoK

@@bunnytailsREACTS See, I think you should've waited to start them till after Korra because they were published after it, so they reflect the changes to how the spirit world is portrayed in that show versus the original, but, as you've already started, you might as well continue with the Rift, Smoke and Shadow, North and South, and Imbalance before checking out the Korra comics Turf Wars and Ruins of the Empire that pick up where that series ends.
