I recognize the raga of his composition when the tabla maestro comes out; though not by name. Beautiful, Shankar is a gifted writer besides being so amazing on the violin. Thank you all who brought this incredible concert to our ears and hearts. 🕉 🙏

This is simply from some place deep and unfathomable. Listen from about 40m and on (they've been on the same raga - Abheri - since the beginning)... and consider that the piece is in a rhythmic cycle of 9.5 beats. Yikes. Just mind-blowing!

Also amazing is how he uses left pinky to sustain the cadence. Carnatic music needs talam (beats) to create structure

perhaps oil so he can slide on the neck more evenly.

It has been admitted worldwide that L S is a master of the instrument and Indian music. To my ears, some emotive aspect of music is missing. Actually, I find that about many big shots like Sanjay Subramanyan as well. Needless to say, they are great performers and there are several fans world over, for their music.
@vijayy78494 жыл бұрын
On the other hand, you actually named two of my most favorite musicians - LS and SS. As a matter of fact, I find the emotive aspect to a very significant extent more than any other musician. Don’t know if you listened to LS’s groundbreaking albums “Raaga Abheri”, “Eternal Light”, “Pancha Nadai Pallavi” and “Who’s to know”. These are studio recordings with stellar audio quality and makes one wonder if LS is really a human being or a Demi God. Same with SS - I have almost all his albums - no flaw anywhere and he has a very deep bass voice and sings with emotion like the yester years great musicians did.

Subu Kaundinya I find incredible depths of emotion every time I listen to L Shankar........

The brothers never immersed into Carnatic music nor finished their training to a level of mastery.. Funny you mention SS, he started his training under LS father.

I agree with Subu... L Shankar is a great musician... Master in the instrument and the techniques.... With all due respect to him, his music and the instrument, something is missing in his music..... The soothing effect is missing, I guess... It is more of a circus.. Thank you. pls consider it as a positive note ... 🙏
