Ori has so much eye candy it put me in a visual sugar coma. I played through both games not too long ago, 'Will of the wisps' was everything I wanted from a sequel to 'The blind forest' and fixed a lot of the issues I had with the first game. Something I didn't expect was a few weeks back 'Will of the wisps' got a upscale update which made the game look even more visually stunning than it did when I first played it. Edit: I'll make sure to stay tuned for the vid on Will of the wisps.

m8 My name is Johnny Blind (forest edition) and I think this video has done a phenominal job at selling one on this game that is Ori and the crackalackin' forest of chavs, i especially think the combat looks really fun and i love how ori can jump! this game also has a phantasmal art style that really shows that the world is made of green and blue and red and sometimes blue but mostly green. I'd really love to see a sequil to it called "ori and the presidential election" where Ori becomes the next president of the united states of americah of USA (the U stands for united). But yeah I think this game would be better as an JRPG but only if you're playing it on a thursday at half 11 and I don't think you quite caught on to the deep reason as to why Ori is a magic leaf, its because only a leaf and stop the lich king. but yeah overall i this video has really sold me on playing this game so much I'm going to play the new WoW expansion right away! Blond Voyage my friend!

I thoroughly enjoyed this video! You had a very astute observation about the game's combat and platform gameplay. I agree with you the one that was giving me more difficulties was the platform one, whereas with combat I just pressed the X button a lot of time and I was done lol. Love your video. damn what a good video, enjoyed every second, absolutely right: the bash ability is somehow the most used even in Will of Wisps It took me a bit more than 5 hours because I re-examined every part of the map slowly after getting a new ability, because after unlocking the bash ability you skip so much of the beauty at lightspeeds, it is just a pity when you can't enjoy the ambience of the game
@DesignDelve
@DesignDelve 2 жыл бұрын
So glad you enjoyed it bud 😁 why do you feel was the weakest part of Will of the Wisps?
@denj4s
@denj4s 2 жыл бұрын
@@DesignDelve Will of the Wisps is not weak but even more outstanding than the predecessor, with actually having a fighting system. But yet after some playtime every enemy is almost a onehit and not a challenge anymore. This game has even more enhanced visuals. And there is a term for it but it doesn't come to my mind. It describes the game's very detailed visuals which the player doesn't always witness cause of the fast paced gameplay. Especially when you have the sprint, when you visit a beautifully designed save spot, you won't last 10 seconds there ^^

Y’know I have a funny story with Ori. The first time I saw the cover of that game my 5-6 year old brain though “the big furry giant thing looks like Baymax!” (DON’T JUDGE YOU WOULD THOUGH THE SAME) I’ve never actually played the game until LITERALLY A FEW WEEKS AGO/REALLY CLOSE TO THE END OF 2023. I love the game and now I can say Hollow Knight, you have competition >:)

The teaching through trolling thing is itself nothing new. Metroid has multiple examples of this very same tactic. The one that most readily comes to my mind is at the beginning of the first game, on NES. Even by this point, platformers had already codified the rule of "go right to win" and even the majority of today's 2D platformers follow this rule to a T. In Metroid, however going right as soon as you first start will cause you to quickly hit a wall - literally. There's clearly a path through the bottom of the wall, but there's nothing you can do to enter it. So, you have no choice but to go to the left, and soon enough you'll encounter a set of stars which drop you into a room with an item...you've just obtained the Morph Ball! And, just to be sure you know what it does, the only way out is the same sort of narrow path you saw at the former dead end off to the right, which you can now traverse by morphing into a ball. You've now learned up to three things from this false start: you don't make progress by simply going right, items will give you new abilities, and you can use the first of these new powers to go through narrow passageways by pressing down.
@DesignDelve
@DesignDelve 2 жыл бұрын
Oh I know it’s not new, it’s a commonly used technique in game design I am just here to teach people who knew nothing beforehand :) but you seem to have your finger on the pulse 👌 especially with your vast knowledge on the Metroid series!

I enjoyed Ori and the Will of the Wisps, but honestly I think the simplistic combat system was a really good fit for the game. Ori felt very hard to control due to his high top speed, low jump height, and his slow deceleration, and a combat system closer in design to what a lot of other metroidvanias had would probably be unusable in Ori because these features designed for platforming make combat extremely difficult. The combat system basically asks you to just focus on dodging, and that's the only way combat with Ori would be even remotely fun before getting the bash ability.

@XKnight546
@XKnight546 3 жыл бұрын
@@DesignDelve Here is a few things 1It has Boss fights actual boss fights 2. If you have ever played the hollow knight you may notice that ori took a lot of things from Hollow knight But in my opinion that’s a good thing and more games should be taking inspiration from the game 3If you played Ori and blind forest and then immediately played will of the wisps ( I did ) You will notice a immediate change in quality You’ll be blown away by even the smallest things that have changed in quality for examples small things like keystones and spirit light 4 Most people will say story is not there but all you really need to do is imagine what the characters are actually thinking and it will make sense If you didn’t cry on the first one (I didn’t ) you may/will cry on the second Another thing you may want to know is that the games launch was really shaky Lots of bugs Even some so bad that in the final cut scene characters were upside down. All of them have been patched now btw The game also feel like a completely different game at first but the gameplay is probably the best game play I have ever seen in my life and that is really saying something since I absolutely hate metrovanias Feel free to use this in any video I’m typing this on my phone so it probably has a few typos

@@DesignDelve original Silent hill is only connected to Silent Hill 3 , you could play SH2 alone of course but I recommend you to play the first and the third cause those are great too. Most of what you mention are well executed old school design concepts from the late 80s-early 90s. The save system was something new though (I think) and it was cool besides some glitches. Bash was also a cool spinoff of the throw mechanic from Guacamelee and really satisfying to use. The platforming challenges replacing standard bosses were the worst parts for me, being mostly trial & error-based and large difficulty spikes too.
