As an Aussie, Fender is more than an American icon, it is a world icon that we all owe gratitude to for the great guitars that have played the great songs since the 1950’s. When it ain’t broken don’t fix it. Amazing that Leo Fender nailed it at the beginning. Great video O Captain! My Captain!
@tjsr
@tjsr Жыл бұрын
As an Aussie... 'meh'. Do Fender make great products - yes, absolutely. But it really does get annoying at times listening to Americans insisting that the MIA models are for whatever reason going to be better quality than something made in any other country because... why? Because as a company they don't insist on the same or a higher level of standard of the employees they take on in other factories? There's no rational reason why the other countries and factories can't produce exactly the same (or better) quality and QCd products as the ones that have a MIA stamp on them so just why? If I pick up an MIJ, MIM, hell, even an MII model that I think works for me, I really don't care about that detail, whereas Americans often become obsessive about it - without reasonable, rational explanation as to why one finished product is better in workmanship, where if you shipped the same components to be put together elsewhere, that could just as well be done.

Thank you Andertons for the best content ever! You guys keep us so well informed and up to speed! It is one thing to have cameras and access to these amazing instrument builders but you have to capture it with love and passion. That's exactly what the Captain and his squad are doing. Giving a soul and personality to the vids being released for our pleasure. I'm in Canada and I've seen many retailers trying to find a niche on social media and they just don't get it! They forget that we are humans and that the product has to be seen, touched, played and critiqued by someone we trust in order to have empathy for what is being shown to us. This person we trust becomes the prism we adhere and come back to and kudos to the Captain and his team for being successful at doing so. God love you guys! I will not name everyone as I would be so afraid to forget someone but you are ALL so important to us. The humour, the fun, the honesty (yes honesty) dials up our attention. I know, I know, you are selling us stuff. We all know that! But I've heard all of you sharing positive AND negative comments in regards to new or old gear. I swear you guys! If there is a University level marketing course for social media somewhere on this crazy planet, you should hold the chair for it. Brilliant work guys and keep it coming. We LOVE it and thank you once again :)

Retired tool- and die-maker here. This is a great video that shows the intersection of art and manufacturing. Imagine being able to tell someone, "I make Fender guitars." Also cool is all the original machines from Leo's days alongside modern CNC machines. That old Bridgeport mill stands as a monument in the center of the shop, as it should. I cranked the handles on them for many, many years. Good times... You gotta luv the 'stolen Strat' on the wall in the intro, too.

From what I have been told by custom guitar builders here in CA, nitro can't be sprayed due to the strict environmental laws, so that is all done about 150 miles south in Mexico. CA is trying to save the planet, & apparently not spraying nitro & other types of paint is part of the solution. Spraying it 2 hours away makes all the difference....idiots. We are all wearing masks again so maybe that will help...

Fender is making some of the best guitars they have ever made now. I have several which made this film special. I had no idea there was so much hand craftsmanship in making the current line. I hope Leo Fender has one of the best seats in heaven. His efforts led to so much great music enjoyed by people around the globe for over 70 years.

Like with Fender, I was surprised at how hands on it was, even though they were only doing semi hollows. You can understand why they aren't giving them away. Much time and effort goes into building a quality guitar.

@@taylorrobinson5929 It's a strange arrangement, but the Gretsch family owns the company- and Fender produces, markets, and distributes the guitars. The lower priced models are contract manufactured in Asia for Fender. The higher priced factory models are produced in Japan by what I believe is a Fender owned factory. And the custom guitars are produced in the Fender custom shop just like the Jacksons and Charvels- and of course the Fender customs.

What a beautiful display of vintage guitars! Just amazing! So cool to see things handmade with old machinery like this! I worked at a “Anti-sway bar” factory back in 1978, and we used old machines like this! The punch press that I operated was made in the year 1910. The newest machine was built in 1955! The biggest machine in the shop. We all called it “Big M”. It used to bend the bars for specific car models! Very dangerous to use if you’re a daydreamer!

Great tour and stories. The only problem with Lee is that he often appears to not really be listening to his interlocutor; so many opportunities for good follow up questions are missed because he already knows the next question that HE wants to ask. Pretty minor issue. And I'm very grateful that he undertook this tour and gave all of us such wonderful insights and information.
