Whoever’s left of BLM must be proud to have driven out grocery, retail and drug stores after their tirades…right?!?! They only hurt themselves long term but interviewing these people now to see what their lives have devolved into is something to see!!

Yeah police should have prioritized stopping the crime and destruction instead of wasting resources on breaking up peaceful protests and arresting the press. It's not that hard to tell the difference. Shows you what their priorities are. Honestly the message we should all take from this protest is that it needs to be the other way around. The police we have are violent vigilantes who care more about social hierarchy than social justice or public safety.

How would you handle the looting if you were in charge and it was your ass on the line? Please explain? When the looters are done with stores they will start breaking into peoples houses were there are small children asleep. What if they break into your house? if you owned a business that you spent your whole life building and they destroy it what would you say to that? How would you feel if no police came to help you? They are shooting tear gas into innocent protesters because ther are looters mixing into that crowd. It is all on the peaceful protesters to leave the area when they see these looters around them.

@@s.c4n618 so rioting and causing more damage over a person's death is acceptable? So you think it's okay for small family business to be looted, which consequently cause them to lose their jobs, their income, and their whole business? You think damaging someone's car, burning buildings, damaging billions of dollars in property is worth it for the greater good? I agree that George Floyd's death was sad, and the police officer needs to be prosecuted. But don't you think the riots are too much? Especially when the police officer who killed George Floyd is in custody, and his charges has been upgraded from manslaughter to murder?

@@s.c4n618 also, don't you think the riots hurt more people, compare to one person? The protestors could have protested peacefully. After all, as long as a protest is peaceful, it's fine. This is all both scary and sad. We´ve seen this happen before in places where minorities and/or poor people have been oppressed by the state. First they protest peacefully, get nothing, then protest violently, get more violence back, then get even more violent, as in insurgency, then sooner or later the majority of the people and the minorities themselves get tired with the whole story and you end up with a lot of dead people, mostly on the side of the minorities, and a lot of people in jail. Maybe some guy who is smarter and less principled than the rest can make a career, but everything remains the same. It happened in Northern Ireland, in the Basque Countries, you even saw the same pattern with left- and right-wing insurgency in Italy and Germany in the 70s and 80s.

Many have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and haven’t received their checks, and even if they did then I know that my rent alone can cover almost all of the 1200 dollars that I didn’t receive. It’s obvious that AMEICA DOESN’T CARE ABOUT ITS PEOPLE. What are they going to do when they don’t have food? Clothes? Other recourses? People like you are saying that others are taking advantage of this situation to loot, but did anyone come into this situation looking to loot? No. It’s a side effect that comes along with taking control by force and making a change. It would also be a huge help if you could take the spotlight off of looting because of what the press shows and focus on the actual problem so that we can make the change that we need, thus ending the riots and the looting. Anyone else noticing in the videos that it's usually State/Federal agencies needlessly escalating situations? More so than the local agencies from what I've been seeing. When they start arresting looters with anywhere near the number of otherwise peaceful protestors being arrested you might see my attitude change. Every otherwise peaceful protestor arrested instead sees just how easy it is for the state to use its stick on all of us.

When the Vice crew was told to get on the ground and the main journalist started reiterating what just happened, there was a moment where I realized "Oh shit, the guy is black. He's documenting it clearly because there's a very real chance that he will be killed the same way as George Flyod. Laying on the ground at the order of Minnesota police." and it fucking hit me like a train. There's being aware of your privilege as a white person, and there's realizing that you've never felt that kind of fear in your whole life, for the *ONLY* reason that your skin is not dark. I've never wanted to be a proper ally for a movement as much as I do right now.

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In this Talk, Pastor Michael T. Smith argues that the “normalcy” of discrimination is ingrained in our American culture. Indeed, the idea that a black American would be involved in foul play -either as perpetrator or victim-is so broadly accepted as to be largely unnoticed. Smith exposes the racism that underlies the appalling lack of outrage at high death rates in the black community, and highlights the hypocrisy of a society that glamorizes violence, but ignores its victims. “It doesn’t take action to keep racism going,” Smith observes, “it takes inaction.” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z6qoe69jzpnHiqM.html

What “change” do these people want? Also, I find it racist when people generalize to all “white folk”. The definition of racism is: “the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.” Don’t fight racism with racism, this is a HUMAN RIGHTS issue, it is a bit too simplistic to make it a “white vs. black” thing. Lastly, violence solves nothing other than bring more violence and undermine a movement which is trying to overcome violence. Like what I learned when I was in kindergarten, “two wrongs don’t make a right”.

I guess people calling for non violence and human rights are privileged. Ah yes, and I must have recent history wrong too.
