I pass by these locations alot whenever I'm in downtown Cleveland, and I have to wonder, in certain movies where they film this, why are alien forces invading Cleveland and not new york? Yes, I know they're invading "new york" but from someone who knows the area, it has me scratching my head.

Logistics mostly. Filming in New York city is probably 5 times more expensive. Not to mention the tax credit the studio receives for filming here.

Probably because Downtown Cleveland tends to be, more often than not on most days, very vacant and sparse. As a result, it's just easier to film somewhere where people don't commute that often. In contrast to New York being crowded 24/7 around the clock, you might as well take the easier route of not having the huge responsibility of notifying billions of people versus hundreds or thousands.

Hi! I worked on the locations dept. in Cleveland on this film. CLE was used for NYC because the state film incentive at the time made Ohio one of the cheapest places to shoot this kind of production. At the time, CLE was trying to attract more film productions and went to lengths to accommodate them (with closing streets, enforcement, etc.) as part of a general boost for visibility. Many major metropolitan areas took steps like this as they struggled out of the recession (Detroit and Atlanta were other notables). Plus, resources like a major airport, good highways for access, large skyscrapers, extras, food and housing were already in place. And lots of empty buildings - like that bank that Cap gets blown out of. We used the same location in Cap 2.

I was one of the soldiers in this movie, it's because to film in NY it's crazy expensive and Cleveland was doing lots of renovation in this area.

@oDieseLz / Yeah, if you live there and have no clue they were shooting a movie and you saw explosions I think some people might be friended. Also they do obviously shut down these streets when their filming. But, if the city is fine with and the film crew takes all the safety precautions I think its fine.

@@coloneluseless524 Yeah I think it would be fine. It's just something I've never thought about. Obviously all the bushiness have to shut down and all the roads are closed. I wonder if the bushiness are payed to be shut down. Very interesting.

LoneSoul06 there was actually one in 2007 in Manhattan. But it was a steam pipe explosion.

it's a stunt double who was pulled backwards using wires. the glass is also made out of sugar (most glass is made out of sugar and the look of glass is added in post production).

they destroyed many rare nice cars Such as, rhe cars in that big explosion thing 0:56. Cars like 20001 Crown vic nypd 1999 Crown vic taxi Theres also a 1992 crown vic 0:15 (The yellow crushed car)
