You are doing what I wish to do in your age. My dream was to go to Warsaw, enroll to study and specialized in Chopin 's compositions. Hower I had already made a U turn then and becoming an engineer. Please document everyday of your life there because I can't wait to watch them! Boston pianos are basically made by Kawai which is a very good company. I have a similar problem with the uprights. After playing a grand piano for a while it's difficult to switch back to upright. The sound and actions are not comparable. But uprights are easier to play ☺️

I bought an Up 126 Boston Piano and I‘m glad to see that Imm not the only one using the left pedal for op 25 no 1. It‘s more comfortable and it creates a softer sound, which is very important for this piece ‼️

In that version of the "minute waltz" which plays under the beginning of this video, I love the way you shape the end of each phrase -- the way the final high note is followed by a little "pause" (or is it just taking the foot off the pedal? - I'm not a pianist so, sorry, I'm not sure of what's going on technically). That pause makes those phrases feel like they send you into the air, weightless, for just a moment, just like the feeling of being on a rollercoaster at the apex of its curve, where you are lifted off your seat, just a bit, for a second or two. Lovely! 🤓

Have fun in Warsaw! I was looking to go there last year for the squash world masters tournament. Alas, covid hit, and my plans were scuttled. So feel free to let us indulge in a bit of virtual tourism. Maybe I'll be there next year. I've only ever played on upright and digital pianos, with the occasional tinkle on a grand or baby grand. It's all what you use most often. You get used to what you play on, and suddenly you find you prefer what you're playing, instrument quality notwithstanding. I'd easily prefer to play on a quality upright or digital, than a sub-par grand.

I always practice on an upright piano but when it’s time to record for a competition (online because of Covid) or play a concert, it’s always a grand piano! The difference for me is very noticeable! In concerts I usually try to warm up on the piano from before, but because it’s a concert I don’t always get a chance! What you’re saying in the video is very true! Anyways, love your channel! I recommend you to visit the Bernardine church and convent in Czerniakow quarter. Its late 17th century, never rebuilt or destroyed during the uprising in 1944. Very likely Chopin and his family/friends have visited this place many times before 1830. One a year they have had an indulgence fair there and this was extremely popular among warsawians in 18th and 19th century. It's really tiny, but very nostalgic and beautiful place. Unfortunately you have to make an appointment to enter the church and convent. :)

I've never played a grand piano (at least real large), but as far as I know there is an objective difference between grand piano and upright piano. Grandpianos have much longer keys (I mean not visible part, but the part inside of an instrument), and because of it the difference in force when you press the heart of key and somewhere closer to the root is much less then on an upright piano. For people who play piano often it's pretty noticeable. Also string on grandpiano are longer, and that somehow affects the way of sound retrieval.
