Scenes from the new Brad Pitt F1 movie being filmed at Daytona International Speedway during the Rolex 24 week. The movie stars Brad Pitt as "Sonny Hayes" former F1 and current IMSA driver who mentors F1 rookie "Joshua Pearce" played by Damson Idris. The movie is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun, Days of Thunder) with Lewis Hamilton listed as a co producer. @@greggybada even before mcqueen it has been done. look out for the movie GRAND PRIX. the racing scenes are magnificent! think it was in the late 50s (?). you can watch some of the scenes here in yt

For Days of Thunder they made legal race cars and had to qualify into NASCAR races. Only then were they allowed to put cameras in the cars and take them onto the race track during actual NASCAR races.

it's how it should be done :D They did it for Le Mans 73 and Michel Vaillant (Le Mans in 2002, you can even find onboard of the race cars from the movies))

"Fun" fact : For the film making of the Le Mans 1970 movie with Steve Mcqueen, they actually entered the camera car (a modified porsche 908 with heavy cameras on it) in the race. The car raced for the whole 24 hours in order to film the actual race. It even finished 9th, despite having to regulary stop to change the cameras ! The cameras were so heavy the drivers reported that the car felt like it had a puncture.

It’s a Lola B2K/10 which ran in LMP900 (the forerunner to LMP1) from 2000 to 2004

I work at pappas drive in. The pivotal scene of the movie was filmed there, with brad pitt and javier bardem. Most impressive person that came to the restaurant was jerry Bruckheimer

My husband and I were in Pappas working as background. I was the red head that had to keep coming in the front door. It was an Epic event for us. We also met Pappas owner. Sat just next to him and his family during the shoot.

I was in the grandstands until after the fireworks display. Me and my uncle unfortunately had to leave early in the morning because he was vomiting a couple times. Luckily he’s getting better now.

It was all different nights. The first scene in this if from Thursday, the cars on track were from Saturday a week before the race and the camper van scene was Saturday night during the race

They were filming scenes all week but the ones in this video are from Thursday before the race, Saturday night a week before the race, and Saturday night during the race

Racing has always been about money and talent! F1 has always taken to extremes since before it was called F1! Remember all the world championships of the 30s with the German rear engined V 16! Literally a killer car! They had four tires on the rear to handle the weight and the car was either a winner or a killer! It was called Auto Union or today it’s Audi!

Apparently one of the story lines is Brad Pitt plays a retired F1 driver who currently races IMSA. They also filmed at the Silverstone and Las Vegas F1 races and I'm sure will be at more this season

I did see them rolling the film cars out that Friday night while walking out of the track and that Lexus "GT3" caught my attention. Even though it was film prop, that car seem to be a cobbled-up mess.🤮

The movie script was written around F1 racing, but then no one in Hollywood nor Brad knew what F1 was. So they went to an IMSA race and figured that the audience was also as ignorant and wouldn’t know the difference. Should be a great movie. 😂

They filmed at the Silverstone and Las Vegas F1 races and I'm sure will be at more this year. They'll spend months and months filming a big budget movie like this, I'm sure the sportscar scenes will be a very small part of the finished movie
