Seeing these BTS not only on this video but also IRL, and somehow taking part of it makes you appreciate the MASSIVE work that Henning and other HONEST youtubers do. These videos are the ESCENCE of the purchasing process nowadays...we don't need more "specs" or "show off" videos from the in-house people, we need different points of view, we need a variety of options, maybe some that we haven’t even thought about, and people like Henning allow us to find that in one place, which makes the PROCESS even easier and more accessible. So yeah, this is definitely NOT an obsolete job, this is NOT unnecessary, even more, this is the FOUNDATION of the relationship between a brand and the consumer, because no matter how good your product or brand is, it has to be found and appreciated, and these people are the bridge to do so.

On this channel we get the highest of quality gear videos -- hands down. Who else gives real in the mix examples and full break downs of features? Listen up corporate media people, lots of us trust Henning and we are your future buyers. Frankly, when I am in need of a piece of gear, I first check his channel.

That's a 💯% professional setup and nobody can dictate what a service wants to charge. Best they can do is negotiate or go elsewhere. This is not like a government toll road that has already been paid for several times over but they still keep toll charges higher than the cost of maintenance. I think promo videos have a purpose for advertising but they're obviously biased. Nobody should buy solely based on those and influencer videos will always be taken with a grain of salt. That's just how it is. The only way to purchase without testing is to watch several videos and make your best judgment

Very cool to see the chef give a tour through the kitchen. No wonder the meals are always so delicious, with so much experience and so much fancy expensive gear. And once you go Elinchrom, you never go back. 🙂 Beside the RCF speaker for 1400 bucks, I also saw an Ox Box, which is also a surprising 1400 euro. And while the cameras and their optics are of course the most expensive, and even assuming you would buy it all, you can do nothing with it if you do not have the experience.

One thing for sure is that I, personnaly, will never buy a product with in-house only videos. I, as a consumer, need other views on a product. And of course i will go first to well produced videos like yours for that because I will see and hear more and, importantly, will have an unbiased opinion. And cherry on the cake, I will be entertained while educated and that is priceless.

Your channel has really grown HP and your content is promoted by the algorithms on KZfaq so people who are new will get your videos in the recommended feed automatically. That’s not an easy achievement so rest assured you will be needed for many years to come, if reaching an audience is a qualifier, which it is. Genuine, friendly, engaging, interesting. These are some of your highlights, areas where you excel. Educated musician, probably what I value most from your videos is how you help other musicians develop and release songs. If paying the bills involves marketing new products, I understand and support your endeavors. Nice work HP. Hard work and dedication pays off. I trust you will continue to grow. Thank you for everything. I could go on all day…

I read somewhere that customer loyalty is more built upon how a company behaves when things go wrong rather than by being as incident free as possible. I think that applies to you as an unbiased party who can see gear as it is, not as the company wants to show it. Aside from all the gear, you know what to do and how to do it. This knowledge about workflow, user centricity and simply how to operate stuff is surely worth more than anything else. On top of that: I trust a video from someone like you more than I trust a video from a company. Of course a company doesn't want to show something that might not be so great. You do. My purchasing decision is more shaped by what isn't that good than by what is good.

'Official' videos are just for knowing the features in my book, a bit like a movie manual, so to speak. For opinions, experiences I go to channels like yours, these are a lot more valuable than just seeing the features and hear someone play and brag about how awesome this new piece of gear is, because that's what he's being paid for. No, we want to know how it really is, how it plays, how it sounds. Talking about gear, my God, that's a lot of gear you got there, what a setup, amazing really. It's indeed a production, not a guy with a guitar playing some tunes, so I can understand that this comes with a price. So no, your job is not obsolete, I'm sure lots of companies see the value in what you're doing, thank you for your hard work (and the love towards animals), it really is greatly appreciated!

It's simply not cost effective for most brands to do this in house. Those brands do not understand this (or they're bullshitting you to try reduce the price), nor do they understand how many person-hours of real, top-level, professional expertise go into doing this. Hell, as a guy with a single phone and two mics's I can say most people underestimate the hours of work that goes into making anything other than a very short video. A high quality long format video? It's a BIG feat. Thanks for everything you do Henning, and Leslie, and everyone else.

yeah henning i totally understand you. I'm a videographer (self employed) on my own. And everytime the same question..why is it so expensive... well i think in times where everyone with a smartphone is a professionel producer nowerdays there is a drastic decline in value for us. And dont forget they dont only pay us for techical Quality...they also pay us for our creativity and Knowledge, and effectivness timewise.... recently i got several companies going back to me after the nearly same story... because they quickly realized.... producing these vids on their own is way less effective.... they need muuuuuuch more time to produce them...need lot more menpower as they thought of in planning.... get mostly not the quality they want... and end up with way more costs than u or we acutally charge.... sure i think u can probably do it with a little less Recording Gear or Technical Equipment... but i think thats totally personal...and if u need this for your Workflow and your Quality...you need it....period.... and if they want your style...they have to pay the amount of money you ask for... Have a great and long "Pfingstwochenede! ;-) Cheers! Chriss

Henning, I think your gear videos are the very best there are. And it boggles my mind that you don't have a million more subscribers. That said, if your paying customers don't appreciate the work you're doing, I wouldn't expect them to respond well to your rant. They can't value what they don't understand. You'd have to make a point how your service is helping their business.

Not going to buy off an in house video. What they might do is peak interest to look at something in more depth. Your quality rocks Henning, but also the depth you go into is appreciated. Guitar or pedals through multiple amps (with widely different sounds) and amps with different guitars helps understand the product and how it performs differently. Most corporate produced videos, even when they grab production companies to film, at best it’s a snazzy video but without showing what we want to see and FEEL. And none of them give us animal shots.

I barely watch any videos from brands because they tell me nothing more than the facts I can also find on their website or on a website of a store. Also some other music youtubers make some videos where they play the product and further just read out the techspecs/the marketing blabla of the brand. Those I watch maybe for the sounds someone can achieve with a certain product, but for nothing more. Here and also to some other channels I come because I value the opinion of the reviewer. That I would never get on a channel of a brand.

NOTHING is for free. Someone always has to pay somehow. If the consumers want to watch possibly comparable and high quality reviews someone has to pay for them. his can either be the consumers, which likely will not happen. With less comprehensive reviews there will likely also less sales and/or more returns. Then there is also the brands. They usually pay for th3ese reviews, (hopefully) not to influence the outcome of the review, but for someone to actually do it. If they don't want to pay for it anymore there can only be bad ads/placements by companies, not necessarily involved with the whole sector and with products that are neither needed nor wanted. I'll leave how the reviews would look like with a bunch of those up to everyones imagination .. Oh and .. Inhouse promo ads .. yeah, we have seen how realistic those can be with a certain brand that seems to be involved with omnipresent gas .. or something

Whoever those companies are they should look at what is already in KZfaq from manufacturers. The videos come across as dry, a little but lifeless , no real chemistry. Even the ones with amazing production values lack a personality. It’s done by people with other jobs in the company so it’s not a dedicated presenter that can put a ton of effort in. I love Anderson’s as well but I don’t think anyone is under the illusion it’s more than an advert for the store , and if you think HP takes accusations of being a shill just look at the comments and negativity Anderson’s gets. Consumers aren’t stupid, they will want unbiased reviews and demos. People like HP and others came about because there was a need for something other than company product videos and sweetwater demos. I won’t touch something unless it’s got a decent review from HP , 60cycle , guitar geek etc.

Everyone has to work hard for their money, so it is kind of pointless spending 12 minutes with explaining us how hard you have to work for yours. Companies buying these kind of services usually base their decisions on facts and not on emotions. Probably some of them didn’t see sales go up as it was anticipated after a KZfaq assisted product launch and therefore started a cost benefit discussion. And every channel (like every product) has its life cycle. Maybe such a video is a (strong) indicator that there is a need for (substantial) change to prolong its life cycle. Maybe the time it took to stitch this video together would have been invested better for these kind of thoughts.
