"I have read the book. I hadn't read the book before I was given the part, so when time has been given I've sort of zapped through it and also we've had Philippa (Gregory) on set. So, I've had the book and I've had Philippa and also scripts to combine and finding my character in the pace, as it went so quickly."

"From the first casting I went to with Max - we said it to each other straight away - it just was...sometimes you just click with people, it's a relaxation to be with each other, you feed each other. We did that. It's a wonderful off-screen relationship as well. We back each other and he's curious about building up scenes. I mean, we both... He's done a lot of theatre, Janet is used to this much more than we are, so we back each other up and that's a wonderful feeling."

17. SOUNDBITE (English) Max Irons, actor - on getting into character:
"Well this is the first time I've been able to use my own accent, that helps, it takes the pressure off in that regard. The costume helps enormously, but what is interesting is I once met Prince William through a friend. A friend was supposed to meet him, to be honored by him, and I met him and I was kind of looking at him and he had such presence and such charisma, almost larger than life. So, when I got this part I was thinking 'ok, what's going to help me achieve that?' Costume, this, that and the other of course help, but weirdly what gets you most into character is the way that other people respond to you, to the fact that you are king. So, when you walk into a room, in fact it's not Edward, or in this case Prince William, being larger than life, it's the way we see them. So, in fact it just helps being surrounded by people responding to you."

19. SOUNDBITE (English) Max Irons, actor - on the show being tipped as the next big thing:
"I mean, I don't tend to look at that side of things because I can't control it, I don't understand it, I just know what I'm doing on this side. But, it's nice to know that both Starz in America and BBC in Britain has faith in what they are making. It's comforting and to have the cast we have and the production value we have, yeah, it gives you faith."
