The only thing i can complain about is the lack of appreciation you should get looking at those poor clicks and thumbs up. Amazing work. You have really good musical ears to recreate such an creative masterpiece. You should make creating orchestreal pieces from scratch tutorials. I would gladly like to learn from such a talented person like you.

Another banger Ashton, well done! Been here since the DaVinci remake :D There's one thing though... For future episodes (Or maybe you could make an episode dedicated to this): Could you take a look at how you would use modulation (dynamics, expression etc.) and how you would use EQ, reverb (programming/mixing in general) on these scores? The packs you include gives a really good idea and I've had a look at them myself but it'd be awesome to understand down to detail how you would approach it. Thanks!

Once again a great video with a great selection of tracks. If I may suggest "ender's game" for a episode. It is my favourite score of all time, but I think it could be a little to much of ostinatos and not enough melody.

Nice Ashton! I can imagine the patience it took for this! How did you balance those bombastic low drums with the sub bass without muddiness?
@AshtonGleckman
@AshtonGleckman 5 жыл бұрын
It's just about making sure theres not many frequencies stacked up in the same range. As you mentioned, if you don't EQ stuff and use lots of low stuff (especially in the sub bass region) those frequencies can get out of wack, so choose specific instruments to be the priority, and then just work everything else around that.

@AshtonGleckman
@AshtonGleckman 5 жыл бұрын
For the synths it's mainly the Dark Zebra, which has most of the sounds that Howard Scarr created for the film. I took those and tinkered around with the patches. For orchestra, it's a combo of many things like the Ark series, Albion 3, CSS, etc. Perc is Hans Zimmer Percussion and epic taikos from 8Dio mainly.

@@AshtonGleckman That's really amazing. I have a question, is it wrong to use the sustain pedal while recording other instruments, like strings for example? I find myself using it so there's no break between the notes sometimes, but should I be editing that on the DAW instead? I noticed it's kind of cheating because the note in the DAW appears to have ended but the sound continues.
