Amazing work. I have to convey my excitement for these new solutions to present rhythms that partition in interesting ways the melodies and the spaces made by the string instruments without resorting to rock drums cliche. The end result is serving similar functions to the rock drum set in old techno-thrash or early progressive metal but in a very different and modern way because of the digital kit and the sound treatment. I suppose some of the Thrack era crimson comments are related to both this and the interweaving guitars, but it sounds to me like Arctopus arrived at this experimentation here because their own compositions demanded it... not to sound like crimson at any rate. Parts of this are like fusion Steve Reich... This is out there and fearless and it truly captures the attention of this world-weary listener

drums are not digital! these are analog synth drums. Simmons SDSV and SDS8 from the early 80s. these pre-date sampler-based electronic drums. they are analog synths played via piezo pads. thanks for listening!

Really good - one of my favorite releases by BTA. I really enjoy bringing back the prettier atmospheric bits - gives a nice contrast/dynamic to balance out the measured insanity of the music that I felt was more prevalent in early releases (like nano-nucleonic cyborg summoning). Still some of the most interesting musicians out here in the US to do it these days. Thanks for doing it!

Very calming and soothing piece of art.👍🏻🤘🏻💯 Steve Vai once said (the general meaning) : "I can clearly understand a guitarist's next notes, whether I'm able to play them or not, but when I hear Allan Holdsworth, it's like he's connected to the universe, and that's where i'm loosing it, and the ball disappears." If Allan was alive, I think he'd say the same thing about these guys.

At first I was disappointed in the lack of full live drum kit, but I do agree that the percussion that was used does fit much better with the idea of flying through empty space. Drum kit is very grounding as its full of deep thuddy bass drum and floor toms, whereas the eclectic mix of percussion here is much more floatly and open with mostly mid and high frequency content. Not to mention that drum kit is very familiar and thus grounding in a cultural way whereas this is unfamiliar and thus alien sounding helping to support the vibe of a futuristic or alien machine or being. PS if you guys ever tour again I'd be so excited if you came through Austin!
