I think if you don’t have absolute pitch as a child, the best you can do as an adult is relative pitch. Do you like Charlie Puth? He has absolute pitch and trained at Julliard. Thoughts?
@busyboxst7
@busyboxst7 3 жыл бұрын
@@justsaybobby Not so sure about this. For recordings that I've listened to more, and songs I've played on guitar over and over, my pitch is much closer to perfect (without hearing any external reference) than if you just ask me what a certain note is. It is at least somewhat memorizable. Otherwise I wouldn't always notice when a band shifts a song down 1 semitone live to ease the vocals... Not sure how you define "absolute pitch" though. If you mean can someone tell if a tuning is 1 cent out without hearing any other key, that's another realm.

5:08 For me, it's not a matter of whether I'm motivated or not. I just go to my piano at 10:30 AM and practice for 2 hours (except on Sundays) whether I'm motivated to or not. I just eliminate the possibility of not practicing from my mind, because if you quit even once you're making quitting an option

Have you ever burst into tears. Me: yep. When I was forced to play for 5 “painful”hours every day during lockdown because my mum thought I had to much free time even though I still had online tutoring and schoolwork and school zooms. It might be easy for pianists but not for me so those people, please bare my complaints! Thanks 😊

What was the logic, if some of the greatest composer pianists did not physically practice playing over 3hrs a day how does that make any sense.. Professional books suggest never increase practice time more than 5% per week, otherwise serious risk of physical damage not to mention other adverse affects.. Obviously she has not heard of nerve issues that can happen and impair playing ability for life, there are several examples..
@dareen93mt98

That's a very wrong idea that your mom had. The drive for playing piano has to come from you, being forced to play is useless if not counterproductive. Not only you risk injuries but you need time to build yourself by your own and do what you really want. That will feed your piano playing way better than studying 5 hours straight with a very limited amount of focus. Please speak with your mother about that. Most pros play around 3-5 hours a day but take a lot of break and don't have to deal with other kind of studying.

Tiff, your vlogs are getting better and better! I love the sound effect and editing work in this one! If others 'copy' you on SM, think of classical composers who started "copying" the style of their hero / predecessor, and then became themselves, and wrote / did amazing works. Everybody has to start from somewhere. :) I love #togetherwithclassical, and my biggest wish is that you could work (some day) with Gustavo Dudamel and the youth orchestras for underprivileged kids. Personally, this vlog was a nice uplift after a pretty frustrating recording test of something I'm prepping for togetherwitchclassical... now, back to work!

There is nothing wrong with copying. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (quote: Oscar Wilde). There might be people playing different instruments or even the same instruments that feel the need to express themselves in the same way, more power to them, if they feel inspired by you, then the more the better. 21:23
@busyboxst7
@busyboxst7 3 жыл бұрын
As a guy who helps bands make records, there is sincere flattery and there's lack of creativity. It's a matter of proportions partly. I"m guessing she's referring to the latter. Just a guess, not to get into any argument on the interwebs w/ a stranger. For example, I once recorded a band who stole an entire guitar solo from their favorite band, note for note. There are even famous pop artists whose entire vibe/ lyric quirks etc. are pulled off other artists. She's of course not going to call out people in detailed manner here - though it might be a good laugh!
@BingDwenDwen
@BingDwenDwen 3 жыл бұрын
@@busyboxst7 Records have plagiarism and copyrights. Those rights are secured by Law. So that is a whole different ballgame. In this case its a matter of the genre in which an artist make its content, be it Rock, or R&B or Classical music, or travel vlogs for all I care. We don't label someone playing rock music as copying, its a genre. If some other person think that he or she wants to promote his her classical music through social media, that is in itself not a copyrighted idea, everybody can do it, and have done before multiple times, its not a new idea. Not forgetting classical musicians are copying the same score composed centuries ago anyhow. If along the way many more people want to setup charity events or sell merchandise, why would that even be considered a bad thing? The more Charity events the better I would think.
@busyboxst7
@busyboxst7 3 жыл бұрын
GenericOpinion, if she were talking about people simply using KZfaq and IG, she wouldn’t be gladly giving advice for doing that. And since her charity work is to fund other charities, I doubt she’s trying to prevent others from fundraising either..... ‘Imitation is sincere flattery’ in the literary world when it’s mostly original work and allusions are weaved in, such as in poetry, but spun for a new and interesting meaning that is specific to the borrower. They make it their own and “add value” to them, not just repeating them to weaker effect like an echo. She’s a smart woman, and likes supporting others (thus her charity simply supports other pre-existing charities). I think it’s far more likely that what she’s annoyed with is seeing others copy her quirks (shooting videos under their piano, singing off with a 2 part thing like “be nice, keep working”, or other thinly veiled plagiarism basically).... As an example, say a comedian looks up to Robin Williams. It’s totally cool to adopt his arguing back and forth between characters with different voices - just don’t use the same voices, add to it, make it fresh. It’s not cool for a Jim Carrey fan, for example, to say “Aaaallllllrighty then!” in the same way he says it because that’s a very specific thing he does.... these are just one guy’s guesses at what she’s talking about. Obviously she could pipe in here if she wants but if I had 8 social media accounts I probably wouldn’t bother to clarify everything I said to every person either.

That's one of my favorite places to relax (under the piano)... The hammer guy was really out to sabotage your video : P He probably heard you say: "It's time to make a video!" ... The difference between perfect pitch and relative pitch: Absolute perfect pitch: If you happen to have absolute perfect pitch, you can basically identify any musical note without a reference point, and tell if something is even remotely out of tune without needing to hear a note for reference beforehand. Relative pitch: put simply, musicians can gain and improve their relative pitch by focusing on one particular note and using it as an anchor point whereby they can identify other related notes. You are born with perfect pitch. You're not born with relative pitch, you learn it... Funny question: (Do you work?) I tell you, a lot of people have no idea what making music or being a musician really is; they think a musician is a walking/ living iPod or something like that (press a button and he/she plays perfectly, even the most challenging pieces..{It would cool to be able to do that, though, wouldn't it?) Your channel is helping them to understand it 👍 Yes, programming yourself to achieve what you want is not only good for your technique and performing skills but also for life in general (Golden principle)... Office work sucks (sorry guys : p It's better to be your own boss, to do what you really love, to be free, even if you make less money (freedom = happiness)... Office jobs are not that secure anymore, people get fired really easily these days, they don't pay well anymore, they can be very very stressful and terribly boring, in general (there are always exceptions,though)... Interesting video 👍

No you aren’t always born with perfect pitch. People say that but it can be developed. My brother was born with perfect pitch. I started playing piano at about 6, and that’s when we realised he had perfect pitch, but I didn’t. But now over time I have developed absolute perfect pitch. Trust me it can be developed but it has to be at a young age.

@@elliottthompson2745 Two kids with perfect pitch in the same family, that's very unusual... I have heard so many crazy things throughout my life, among those a lot of people claiming to have perfect pitch or photographic (eidetic) memory. Around 98 % of the cases, it is a lie... I'm not saying that you are lying. I happen to believe that anything is possible but I cannot prove or confirm that what you are saying is true. So, who knows, maybe you're right. If it is the case, great, enjoy it. It is a very useful tool if you're a musician.

- so glad to hear you're MOVING !!!!! NO A/C (or dehumidifying?) - maybe you can adapt - but I feel sorry for your best friend "B" ;-) (actually I feel sorry for you too - there have to be better choices - even in NYC; better yet, come to the peaceful countryside of Virginia - the whole world is online anyway :-) - can't wait to hear your first vlog from your new location.

Wishing you good luck with moving to your new place (I hope it has air conditioning so you can be comfortable!) Also hope Steinway & Sons is kind enough to keep your friend with you!!

Introduce a composer and piece. Give some of your thoughts about them. It's often easier for people nowadays to know pop music well, but to not know classical music well.

Hi Tiffany. Being sat at the piano for many hours a day can cause curvature of the spine. What do you do to keep your posture healthy? Love you.

Wow if I tried lying underneath a piano I'd have hit my head about 30 times in the span of this video lol

Q and A question. Do you plan to enter the Miss Hong Kong beauty pageant for next year? You might actually go far contest wise and career wise if you do enter.
