In this video I am vulnerable to you guys as I unpack the reality of being a foreigner I’m South Africa. I start by sharing the reasons why there are so many foreigners in South Africa and I also share what’s special about South Africa which most migrants in South Africa seek. I then go on to share the pros and cons of living in Sa as a migrant then I go ahead to share my on expriences which I have encountered for the past 6 years as a migrant in South Africa. The biggest question remains is it worthy to be a foreigner in South Africa.🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

Let me correct you, Sesi Undocumented migrants have access to free public health care and free public education (up to grade 12) in SA. In fact, all foreigners. Dr. Phophi Ramathuba once complained about the migrants who have access to free public health care in Limpopo hospitals. She mentioned that her budget is not enough to accommodate illegal immigrants. Foreigners who go to private hospitals are those who have money in abundance, and they are few.

My point is is it legal? Are they supposed to?
@sellomonama7797
@sellomonama7797 3 ай бұрын
@Tariromtin Yes. It's legal. According to the following sections of the constitution: 9, 27, and 29. That's why immigrants can't be turned away from hospitals and schools.

I'm a Zimbabwean. I am a taxpayer, I pay in excess of R50k each month. It is painful money to part with. On top of that, I pay levies and contribute to VAT and, I have a clean criminal record, for all intents and purposes, I contribute to South Africa just like a South African. The only difference is I am a Zimbabwean. It is very unfortunate that when South Africans speak about immigrants they go for the illegal ones and use them as the standard. Listen closely when Dubula or other anti-foreigner groups speak... they say "Foreigners must go". The only time they say "ILEGAL foreigners must go" is when they are challenged about what they are saying. There are many foreigners in this country all contributing a lot of skills that are keeping this country going. I don't think South African fully appreciate how delicate a state their country is in. There are 60 million South Africans all feeding off the labour of maybe 3million South African taxpayers and about 1 million foreign taxpaying worker like myself. We are working together to feed over 12 million SASSA grant recipients, we are paying for the free electricity that SAns get, the free water, the free healthcare, the free education, subsidized taxis (yes, those taxis were bought by taxpayers! And bought so that SAns can get cheap transport paid for by taxpayers!). Childcare grants, RDP houses, ..the list is endless. All these things are possible because foreigners are helping lift up the country. So it saddens me when some xenophobic loudmouths attack foreigners and pretend they don't know what value foreigners bring. The other thing that bugs me is that whenever South Africans say "foreigners must go"... they are not talking about whites! They know it, I know it, we all know it, they are talking about black people. For a black person to hate another black person this much points to serious rot in the moral and racial compass of the SAn. SAns will run past the white man who oppressed them and catch the black man from Mozambique and burn him and not even think how odd it is that they would kill their own while their oppressor takes pictures. We have a long way to go to free the black mind.

Hello Tariro, I really believe that most of us as South Africans are welcoming people, the problem is when some people come here illegally commit crime. The people can not take it when they have to compete for health care and education which are both free in public sector, so south africans becomes bitter when you're told medication is finished largely because of foreigners taking advantage of our hospitality. I have lots of friends from Zimbabwe and DRC who running their businesses in SA, legal businesses. Enjoy your stay in our beautiful country and excel in your education, my sister.

@Tariromtin Sesi, I don't understand why people from other countries say South Africans don't like them. They also label them xenophobic. It's not true. I'm sure you remember what happened at Robertson Farms in CTN. People from Zim and people from Lesotho were fighting for jobs in the farms. They even agreed that the employer must hire 50% of the Lesotho nationals and 50 % of the Zim nationals. South Africans weren't even included. Was that xenophobia? But if a South African can have an argument with a foreigner, we label him xenophobic. It's not fair. This is all about fighting for scarce resources. The problem is that South Africans are competing for low-skilled jobs with foreigners. Those jobs are reserved for the SAns. That's why we have these squabbles.

@Sarah-M710 I wish you guys appreciated the issues that come with those "hardworking Zimbabweans". The reality is they are not any more hardworking than the average Joe, they are just desperate to survive and feed families. Their employers adhere to no labour laws, no OHS regulations, no employee benefits, nothing! They cannot even assist them attain work visas...their stay remains illegal. It is only when tragedy occurs that this reality clicks(check the George Building Collapse for example), for a brief moment, and the employer replaces the employees. You check the Marshalltown building fire, any large scale zama zamas bust. Illegal migrants remain vulnerable to being used in many criminal schemes and when people speak, they are given names. At some point Africa has to demand better from its leaders and stop this thing of people seeking an escape from their homes and end up being trafficked, drowning at sea, working extended hours for nothing, and at the end of it all, having nothing to show of it.

I actually don't mind foreign nationals in the country. As long as they are here legally. What pisses me off is how arrogant some of them become towards South Africans. I once worked with them and I saw their attitude towards us South Africans. At one of the places I worked one Zimbabwean lady had an affair with an Indian Manager. He then appointed her as Supervisor. That caused her to be so arrogant and vicious towards South Africans. At the same place a Zimbabwean guy actually wanted to lecture me about my own race. He refused to allow himself to be corrected by actual South Africans who obviously knew better than him. The guy also became quite hostile afterward. Some Somalian business owners are also quite disrespectful towards South Africans. If these foreigners are going to be like that, maybe they shouldn't be here in the first place. By far my most pleasant experiences with foreign nationals have been with Congolese and Cameroonians. Maybe they should be appointed to teach foreign nationals from other African nations how to behave in South Africa. I really have to commend them for being such good examples.
