Thanks! Definitely tough and overwhelming in the beginning, as with anything. It gets better, with time of course:)

I’m very glad I came across your video because I feel like my time management is not the best either. I just graduated and I’m starting in skilled nursing. I completely share your views and you are so open and honest.

You are so sweet. I just accepted my first SNF job. My first nursing job was in a hospital. I love your input. Time management is huge. We will continue to learn together :)

I am a LPN at a SNF/LTC/Rehab for 37 years. I can't mention much because I don't know who is reading this. (What lets you know from the start of this reading how it is working in a SNF) Nursing (a job that I chose because I wanted to be one)has changed changed changed so greatly. It's no longer team work. It's me work. Only the strong survive in this and you better stay on top of it. Your license / certification could be taken away. The family members at times are worse than the residents. The residents that are coming into the facilities these days are the reasons why LTC/SNF/Rehab are hiring alll the time. Always short staff especially on the evenings and night tours. The work load (lol) The staff that are being hired ( omg) I am not going to mention about management here. In a few more years I will be retiring. Sorry to say that it isn't looking any better out there in nursing. 💔

Thankful to have watched this video, I can tell from your video that SNF are just similar to hospitals that manage more stable patients . I used to work in a hospital, I can totally relate to the struggle of managing time as shifts could sometimes be unpredictable and a lot of things can happen. I usually end up staying up to 2 hours longer to finish charting.

I honestly have no idea what other nurses would do to get out on time but no matter what I did I was always late:/

I definitely understand everything you said. I worked at the hospital and I love it but it’s a fast pace but my nursing teams are very helpful but now I’m working in a Long/short term rehab it sucks!!

I'm a new grad RN in a SNF and I'm starting my first day on my own in 2 days and I'm literally so nervous 😓

You described the 13 or 14 hr shifts I experience on the med/surg floor in the hospital. I always have to stay late to finish charting because I try to be there for my patients and also a ton of surprises that takes up your time happen in each shift. It wears you down. Yes we have fewer patients but they are not as stable either. I want to go to a SNF as an RN. I do worry though about being charge/supervisor for CNAs. Tell us how that aspect for youhas been if you get time. 😁

Hello Dana, I’ll be uploading a video regarding this soon! It was quite difficult for me to adjust being the supervisor. Most of my team was much older than me so it was kind of intimidating to express what I needed from them without coming off as too “bossy”. It’s mostly just communicating and showing your willingness to help them out.

Congrats! You’ll learn tons! The good thing with SNF’s is that you’ll see many residents have similar medical issues which really gets you comfortable with certain diagnosis.

my first nurse job i had 1:30. some nights i had 1:54, they even put me on the floor my second day of orientation because they were short staffed. I lasted 4 months before I left. The ratio at my new job is way better but has those stressful days. i just remind myself it isnt as bad as my first job and that gets me through the day 😭

Hi Andrea, this’s Kiki, a RN from Hong Kong. I’m planning to move to the states and work in a SNF. May I ask how’s the situation in SNF now? Enough resource for covid? Thank you and have a good day ❤️
@andrearn5417
@andrearn5417 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Kiki, so sorry for the tremendously late response! Have you moved yet? At times we struggled with equipment so we had to work with what we had. As covid progress we got better at it with supplies and isolation of new coming patients.

@AW The pay wasn’t bad actually, what was bad was how much work you’d have to do! If you had no help from supervisors or co-workers it’s impossible to do..
