(Not so) Funny to see how uninformed most of the comments are. Most here are laughing about the hands cuts. First, it isn’t funny at all and millions suffered from these atrocities. Second, these atrocities were perpetrated by mercenaries lead by King Léopold II of Belgium. Congo was not own by the Belgian state nor his people during that time. Only the king was. It was literally his private property. Only after he died, Belgium took control of it. If you want to make fun about history in the comment, make sure you went to school before to do so. Just to put things in context at the time of the Belgian Congo and therefore this anthem Leopold II was already dead and the Congo directly led by the Belgian state unlike the time of the free state of Congo under direct rule of Leopold II and not of Belgium and therefore the practice of hand-shaving had fortunately already disappeared in Congo
