Hi guys! I wanted to reach out with a question, but first I’ll give a quick intro to my current running journey. I signed up for my first half marathon in mid May, I’ve built up to 12 mile runs and I’ve been running intervals to increase my speed. I currently am running in Gel nimbus lite 2s and I love them, they have kept me from getting shin splints or other injures. I also weigh 205 Lbs now, down from 220 plus. So I really need/favor the cushion. But now as I’m increasing speed and I have a goal to finish at/ under 2:00 hours, I wanted to find something with the best of both worlds, cushion and speed. I definitely heel strike and felt lost in a pair of brooks that didn’t have much heel. I was thinking about the New Balance fuel cell super comp trainers ? I was wondering if you had any suggestions ! Thanks a ton !

As Mike Ehrmantraut of BCS might say, "Here's what's going to happen. You're going to wake up one day, maybe in a month, maybe a year, and you're going to find you're reaching for the Endorphin Pro 3 every day. It'll start with races. But then you'll lean on them in workouts, or when you're babying an injury, or really long runs. And finally, easy days. And you're going to be OK." God, I miss that guy.

I use a combination of the Speed 2 and Adios 6 for daily / tempo sessions and Takumi Sen 8 for 5 & 10k races. I have a number of super shoes but going with the Puma Fast-R for Dublin marathon in a few weeks - it's feels like the best of the Vaporfly & Alphafly in one shoe to me 👍

Current daily trainer/LR shoes are the new 1080, Cloudmonster and NovaBlast3 coming soon. Tempo and speedwork, the Hyperion Tempo, Speed2, Takumi Sen7 for the track. For race day I save my Takumi Sen 8 (5K, 10K) and now have the Edge+ which I’ll test out at CIM HM (relay) and consider for Boston, but am also probably going to pick up the Endo Pro 3 to consider for that as well.

The next SC Elite! The carbon plated racers for the 3 hour marathoners (and those with Yeti feet). I didn’t want to rack up so much long run miles in RC Elite 2, so I’m glad to know that the Trainer works well in that use case. I was interested in Jarrett’s rotation for all us Yeti feet people.

The Speed 2 has been amazing except it’s just a bit unstable for easy paces, so I might find something else for my long runs. @@dextersuarez9948 Right now I am using Asics Flux 6 (I didnt know anything about shoes when I purchased them lol) but now Im getting faster by each run pretty much and I am really interested in finding some good shoes which will make me perform that much better. From what I understand most carbon plate shoes are not good for weekly runs as they are hard on the feet, however it also seems a lot of people dont seem to be able to really make the shoe work to its maximum benefit. I am pretty certain I can make the shoes work how they should but I also see that regardless there are some shoes which are 100% not good for weekly use. The endorphin speed shoes (from my research) seem to be a good compromise as its not a true carbon plate but at the same time works like one some what. I was set on that shoe but then started to look into the novablast (this was a shoe I was looking to upgrade to even as I purchased my flux) and also the glideride 3. Then I also have some interested in the energy rod shoes from adidas. Do you have any good advice for me?

My current rotation is the novablast 3, peg turbo next nature, and vaporfly 2. Easy/Daily: I put 500 miles in my first pair of novablast 2s, and 300 more in my second pair. The additional stack and new foam is a massive upgrade, It feel massively more comfortable and bouncy while being way lighter. I have 75 miles in them now and they just keep feeling better. Tempo (kinda): I've been using the peg turbo since I was able to get a pair for like $90, and I kinda like it? I typically just rotate it on my easy days with the noablast, and it's ok. It takes a few miles to warm up the foam and after that it's pretty bouncy. I've also used it for a 12 mile long run after a race which really surprised me with how good I ended up feeling. I can pick up the pace decently well, but the novablast is overall better. Threshold/Race day: The vaportfly is just so good. I have about 150 miles in my pair and they just feel so good. Anything from 400 reps to mile or 2k repeats feels amazing. I use them maybe once or twice a week but thanks to the zoomx foam after every workout I just feel great. Race day (spikes): Dragonflys. They're the best spike I've ever used. my prs from 400 all the way to 8k all happened in one pair of dragonflys.

What about a rotation for runners who dont plan on racing or training specifically for a target? Just running for over all health but still wants a structured plan like a basic -Short talking pace run -Long run -Recovery run How would you build a rotation like that ?

Short talking pace run: Triumph 20 (it's on sale) or Adidas Adizero SL (on sale too), Hoka Clifton 9, NB V12/13 Long Run: Asics Superblast, Saucony Kinvara Pro or Boston 12. Recovery Run: Asics Gel-Nimbus 25 or NB SC trainer Elite V2, or NB More V4. Some of my suggestions

I have 144 miles on my NB RC elite 2s and tempted to run 1 more marathon in it . Still feels great. How many miles do you guys put on your racers before retiring them? Do you use them for tempos after a certain mileage?
@Believeintherun
@Believeintherun Жыл бұрын
Yeah, we use older race day shoes for tempo runs as well.

Hey, I’m looking to go for a full Ironman in December this year. I’m not the fastest runner, but probably intending to do it at about 7min/km ish pace. I have the alpha fly 2, but kinda hurts my wide feet a lot. Do you guys have any shoe recommendations for wide feet around 2E or 4E?

@@Believeintherun Read through the website, didn't know that there was one! Got the SC Trainer, and 24km logged, it's definitely one of the most fun experience I've had thus far on a shoe!

Howt different is the novablast 2 and 3. All this talk about novablast makes me wanna try. Is it worth it to spend the extra to get the 3 or save some $ and get the 2 now and then the 3 later when gets marked down? I have never tried the novablast. Thanks!
@carlosangalang
@carlosangalang Жыл бұрын
The Novablast 3 is noticeably lighter than the 2. The 3 is as cushioned but bouncier. I'm much happier with the few miles I've run in the 3 over the 200mi I ran in the 2.

The 3 is definitely our favorite to date, but you really can't go wrong with the 2 either and try the 3 if you like that feel but want something lighter

My rotation: New Balance 880s / Rebel V2s / Takumi Sen 8s. It's funny to hear you call the Takumi Sens a tempo shoe, and use "race day" as meaning marathon shoe. Do most people run marathons? I get that if you already have marathon super shoes you can wear them in 10ks and 5ks. But for those of us who don't run marathons a pair of Takumi Sens (on sale for $110!) make a lot more sense.

Takumi Sen 8 is my 5K/10K race shoe and I could possibly take them up to HM distance. I do not waste them on training speedwork. I have other shoes (like the Hyperion Tempo or even TS7 on the track) for that.
@dpeddler123
@dpeddler123 Жыл бұрын
I was also thinking exactly this, most of my races are 5/10k and chose the TS8 over supershoes for that distance. I've tried super shoes for 5/10k and of course they are really good, but can't quite find the times I can get in the TS8 - it's underrated! So light, nimble and fast, not sure how they can improve it but hopefully a 9 will come.

I have no doubt the plated shoes provide a boost....I just found I can't seem to run more than 6 miles or so in carbon plated shoes before the bottom of my feet start screaming. I just picked up the Altra Vanish Tempo as a potential marathon shoe.....seems snappy but w/o the plate.

Agreed, I went for a 12 mile run in my saucony endorphin pros and the soles of my feet were super sore afterwards. Thankfully not all carbon plated shoes are built the same

Ill have to go back and look at the NB3 reviews but I dont remember anyone saying it was that much different than the NB2 if so its a hard pass for me, shoe just doesn't work for me same with the Alphafly...(hmm I may be deleted after those two comments - dont hate me LOL) Takumi Sen is something I have wanted to try out for a bit so Ill probably give that a go. Same with the Metaspeed Edge my local store doesn't carry either so Ill just have to bite the bullet and pick up a pair. For my own lineup lets see probably all NB Rebel v2, SC Trainer, SC Racer (although I only have one 5 mile run in it so far - loved the RC Elite 2 and still have a lot of life in them) if I was gonna add one other shoe in I would probably swap the Rebel v2 out (its got over 300 miles in it) for the Hoka Mach5 and go Daily/Long - SC Trainer, Speed (I like to do it on the track) Hoka Mach 5, Race SC elite.

Too many reviewers are saying the Novablast 3 is too slippery in the wet. I'm not sure where these guys are based but that's a dealbreaker for me. Seems like a great shoe otherwise.

I find that building a shoe rotation is easy. You just buy all the shoes that shoe-tubers rave about. The trouble seems to be wearing them out so you can justify buying new shoes. Right now I'm struggling to wear out the Novablast and Endorphin Speed so I can buy the 3's; but when you have like 7 pairs of shoes it's hard for an average runner to rack up the miles in them. I dont really do races; so that category doesnt matter as much for me, but of course you still want that shoe that makes you feel fast for those runs when you try for a new pb.
