In summer, we almost expect there to be blackouts and load shedding as more people are trying to beat the heat.
But it’s been turned up a little hotter in Belize! They faced several energy difficulties as all their options were pretty much offline for some time.
Electricity has been restored, but there’s no doubt that the crisis has exposed some areas to grow.

Its been awhile since JPS had any Load shedding. It's not as common as it once was.

I have shades closed, and ceiling fans everywhere to avoid using AC all day. Feels like such a waste running AC 24/7 though I'm in a wealthy country.

3:32 Jamaica needs to rebuild the hydro-electric power station at Bog Walk and invest more in solar and wind power, since we are not a petroleum producing country.

I am 80-90% solar here in Mobay. Building my solar power system little by little myself. Every home in Jamaica should have at least one solar panel. I started with one panel and have 5 panels now.

Jamaica needs small nuclear reactor to power up the country, I think . Solar and wind need battery storage to be reliable and efficient. Finally, the government should encourage citizens to install solar power on their roof tops by providing the financial support for this to be implemented.

@@dy6682i don't trust the average Jamaican worker with working at nuclear power plant. All solar power items are duty free presently. Also, NHT gives loans ant very low interest rates to install solar at your home.

@@dy6682 Nuclear power is very expensive to maintain and you have to dump nuclear waste on our land. Every parish in Jamaica have several rivers. We can use the ones that have a heavy flow for hydro-electric. Hydro-electric has low maintenance cost and carries no waste. The power station can be used as a dam to for domestic and drinking water. No need to import bottle water for drinking.
