And they say Apple don’t innovate anymore… It seems at this point that no company is able to create something like Apple’s MagSafe battery pack.

Apple's MagSafe battery pack can only do 7.5W as well (and it originally couldn't even do that at launch). It's capacity is the equivalent of roughly 3,000mAh when you convert the voltage to match what marketing teams generally use, so it is smaller than the competition simply because it has less capacity. And then the more advanced features of the Apple battery like the reverse charging from your iPhone can't be created by other companies simply because Apple won't let them. (Side note: It is ridiculous that Apple doesn't let you wirelessly charge your airpods from your iPhone like android phones can, especially when the reverse charging feature of the MagSafe battery pack proves the iPhone hardware is capable of it.

I bought this on impulse looking for a smaller power bank compared to the Anker 10k Qi2. Put aside the charging speed, the device gets hot! Now that I realised it’s the same charging speed, will stay with original Apple battery which I also own.

The original Apple one is proving itself more and more over time. Hoping they update with USB-C!

I was gonna get this until this review! I’m really impressed by your review man, and I ended up getting a few Anker portable chargers on Prime Day instead: the Nano power bank and MagGo. You just got a new subscriber!

I can't believe my luck. I bought the regular MagSafe Belkin power bank from Amazon by accident instead of the Pro, I didn't realise it was exclusive to Apple. I guess I saved myself some money! Thanks for sharing 😊
@beardfmАй бұрын
You got the better deal for sure!
@JoeKnowsWorstАй бұрын
The only good thing about that is that it will probably make a noticeable difference with how hot it gets! sometimes there are other things that are convenient about these than just simply how fast it charges… sometimes it is just the simplicity of not carrying around a cable and adapter, and the freedom of not needing to be near an outlet… for $60 I don’t really agree that this isn’t worth the price just because it’s not charging superfast :) if I need that I have one of those heavy 20k mophie power banks that I can connect with a short USB-C cable for maximum charging speed… not to mention it can charge pretty much any other device as well 😊

I didn't notice the heat being much better than other regular MagSafe batteries, but it may be managing it better.

I gave up wireless charging completely, especially power banks. They are bulkier, they charge slowly and ruin the battery health. The best power bank is one that attaches to the USB-C/Lightning port like Anker’s Nano Power Bank.

I still hold on to that Anker nano too, great device.

I wonder what kind of extra requirements are imposed on the products that are sold at Apple Store. The ShiftCam SnapGrip sold by Apple Store dropped its wireless charging capability altogether. Also wish Apple could have kept the lightning MagSafe battery pack around for a while longer. Having that on iPhone 15 means you can charge both the phone and the battery with either cable.

Is the heat generated significantly reduced as compared to the non-Qi2 version, considering that both are charging at 7.5W when unplugged? This is the factor that most videos exclude as they mostly prioritise on reviewing charging speeds.
@beardfm17 күн бұрын
I found the heat to be less than most third-party, non-Qi2 chargers, yes.
@ActuallyAwesomeNameАй бұрын
Super Video just wish you would’ve done a comparison of heat. I have „laut power charge crystal“ MagSafe powerbank and it’s heating up my iphone 15 pro a LOT. I would trade slower charging for less heat. Would’ve gotten the original Apple but in Germany alas you can’t get it any more
@beardfmАй бұрын
Ah forgot to mention! It doesn't get as hot as some other off-brand ones, but it gets warm as you would expect.
@ActuallyAwesomeNameАй бұрын
@@beardfm bummer. I was hoping the QI2 standard would act like the original Apple MagSafe battery, communicating with the device to negotiate power delivery. Do you think other QI2’s will do this better?

I was pretty excited when I saw it in the Apple Store and bought it, but just returned yesterday as it is nothing but a paperweight and cannot match any of the power bank even the cheap Amazon one's performance which are not even Qi2.

@adriftatlasАй бұрын
Dubious to advertise it as Qi2 if it can't charge at 15W. How did they get certified at 15W by the WPC?
@beardfmАй бұрын
Technically the coil / hardware can be Qi2, and heat may still be better than regular Qi batteries, but the 15W speeds is the main improvement so it seems very strange.

6:34 I wouldn’t pay more for a chunky portable charger it will make the phone heavier that defeats the purpose.

Depends if your priority is speed of charging or weight, but if the slower charging doesn't bother you I'd say get the cheaper model on Amazon!

Hi Stephen. Great review. Is the battery test app you used called “Total Amperes Battery Charge”? The screenshots in your video look identical to the App description. Anyhow I took the plunge as only £1.99. However when I launched, it says it takes a long time with iOS 17 and results might not be accurate as Apple removed a lot of functionality. It has been in a Starting Test for 30 minutes whilst on my charger and nothing happening” I suspect it isn’t the same app as it appears broken to me. Any chance of putting the app details so I can check please. Thanks
