I can see the use for this.Splitting down logs for a small band mill,spliiting down logs to make it easier to put on a regular splitter,and mostly,splitting mine props.

That is awesome. That wood is to big to run through most saw mills as is. Now they can be milled or processed into firewood. A lot of those huge butt cuts usually end up in the dump.

this splitter is built by the same company that builds firewood processors. it is only designed to split logs that are too large to fit into the firewood processor. then they can put the smaller split pieces into the processor and still process that wood as firewood.

while it is showing off by splitting some knotty wood, I can think of a few reasons to be able to split long logs -- split rails for fencing, split planks for certain custom boat-building needs, any application which might depend upon long lengths of split wood, breaking down large logs for firewood processors -- the uses of this machine are only limited by the imagination

To all of the questions about why to split a log that large... there are such things as wood burning boilers and furnaces that supply heat for municipalities. I myself have a boiler that can take (and thrives) on a four foot log.

Neat... a pre-splitter. It's amazing to read all the clueless folks comments here. Took me a whole 5 seconds to figure out what and why ... Then again I have basic deductive reasoning skills and noticed the huge a$$ firewood processing machine that was running it.

I only saw 1 fireplace that could take these logs. Frank Lloyd Wright house in Wisconsin. Talibetin or something like that. Logs brought in by log chains.

It's for splitting large logs down so they'll fit in a normal sizes firewood processor.

if people would close mouths and open eyes they would see what the machine in the background is for and all these logs are cull logs too big and knotty for the sawmill to handle knotty wood like that doesn't make good furniture I would totally buy one of these for my operation

Its not too late to do anything.... I split wood at home and sell pieces to people who make toys furniture bowls all kinds of things... All you need to do is rip it down on a bandsaw or turn it in a lathe... Really the possibilities are endless...

These pieces were too large to be handled by a firewood processor. They were broken down to a more manageable size and then put through a firewood processor and processed into firewood
