@@coalkingryan881 Bruh since when did I say it wasn’t the Red Army Choir(I already knew that), plus the song is supposed to be sad since it describes how partisans have to leave there families and/or lovers knowing that they likely won’t make it back, but the RAC version in my opinion is stiff af since, it only sounds like they’re “singing” the lyrics as if they were stereotypical robots(as in not having any feeling in the words the say) which doesn’t convey much feeling, towards the listener, when compared to the Italian versions. It doesn’t need to be jazz, for it to convey feeling, as long as it is music, then it should be able to convey feeling, for example classical music can convey a dark, harmonious, and/or triumphant, feeling with the absence of words, if composed, and played well. Same thing with many other genres of music. But if music is badly composed and/or sung and/or played, then it probably won’t convey any feeling at all. Which is what I think happened to the RAC’s version of Bella Ciao.

My ancestors fought in the Italian resistance. My grandmother would tell me stories her parents told her about their experiences in it. Apparently they were a very mixed group. Men, women, communists, socialists, capitalists, Catholics, Protestants, non believers, people from all walks of life, yet they all worked together in their fight against fascism. Brought our family so much pride.

He fought fascists with them and united with US forces, then got sent home back to USSR. He had to spend months in prison before finally reuniting with the family.

Italian history in 5 minutes: - yes, the Italian CLN included ALSO non-communist/socialist elements, most important being the Christian-Democratic (centrist oriented, strong tides with the Church, liberals and monarchists - not forgetting that part of the Italian army which stayed loyal to the crown (the Alpini corp first) but was unluckily located too North to join the co-belligerant army and the Allies in the South - it's also true that as the war ended, the Resistence rethoric and remembrance was taken more and more in consideration by the left, while the other sides of political spectrum stayed more neutral or even started to manifest annoyance for a perceived "ended story" or even open resentment (usually the right and especially the far-right) That's why "Bella ciao" while being the de-facto symbol of Italian Resistence and anti-fascism, is seen as a "red song".

@@comradekenobi6908 You are right, but you are also misleading people. You are speaking of two different songs. This version is derived from the one you speak of, but the lyrics were modified to fit the the time period. And one might say that not all the Rebel groups were Socialist, which is true, but most of them were. Not that it matters, Italy was Fascist, which is quite literally a variation of Communism.

@@cdejmp Mussolini was a hell of a character. Outside the whole Italian People's state ideals, and his repentance towards the last year's of the war, it's not exactly hard to find something to praise him on. It's just far easier to criticize for the whole, ynow, Albania, Greece and Yugoslavia thing and giving the allies a shot in Africa
