England should play a counter-press with a lot of crosses; this team is incapable of playing fast-paced tica taca. The problem is that you don't have a second fantastic winger like Saka, therefore Phoden has to play there rather than AM, where he is the best in the world. The primary issue is positioning him on the wing. Not enough runs, not enough crosses.

Needs to be quicker at pulling the trigger with subs and changing things when they aren’t working. Foden and Bellingham isn’t working. No one is saying Gordon is a better player than Foden but he’s more of what this team needs.

Harry Kane goes missing in big games a lot and is not a clutch goal scorer, he thrives when England are already playing well, he contributes very little up top.

I think he really thinks bringing on Toney with a couple of minutes left was a genius move. Why not bring him on earlier with ten or fifteen minutes to go maybe could have avoided extra time. So Gordon brings in a burst of energy in five minutes the previous game and somehow stays on the bench the whole game?? Trippier has not worked out on the left but he’ll insist on starting him the next game. England were lucky but also deserving as Slovakia parked the bus in the 2nd half. Switzerland will not do that and have more attacking qualities. Southgate now acts like he just beat a top five team when one heroic move saved the team from a disastrous end.

Big Sam picked his 11 yesterday that had Tony starting. You can very clearly how Tony helped change the tactics. It gave other players more time on the ball, Foden going off made even more time for actual wing play which did create more set pieces. The correct men scored both goals because of the changes simple as that. Southgate should be sacked still because anyone with half a brain cell could see the issues before and during the game.

People are not talking about the first goal, toney tied up the defender to allow Bellingham the space. Two up front looked good to me and might sort the balance out. With two strikers drifting into wide areas might help as all we seemed to do last night was to come inside. He made less of a deal of it, for a start, and more of the fact of hugging each of his players in front of them. When he turned to the stands this time, his players were still milling around him, and when he raised his hands and clapped, the crowd responded in kind.

This is ridiculous, so many excuses but England is set up the wrong way in 4-4 games. Any lead England gets, Southgate wants the team to sit back and let the opposition come. England (southgate) need to know when to kill a game and when to defend a game. He looks like an amateur coach. England has far more quality in almost every department over any team but Southgate just can't find a way. England really deserved to lose tonight but won AGAIN on "luck". England extremely lucky. They were too slow in build up. Nobody seems to run to space to receive the ball, except Palmer when he came on. Maybe the pressure has got to them. Hope they learn from this win and improve in next game. One takeaway is our forward players do not move dynamically to create problems for opponents. Maybe it’s tiredness after long season. So one strategy could be to use Toney as target man, Kane drop off him, with Bellingham or Foden/Palmer to be around him in penalty box. Then for crosses from width, use Trent, Saka, Bowen, Gordon to supply towards Toney and Kane. This should be a late strategy to press for goals, especially when opponents playing in low blocks

Firstly Credit to the English FA for appointing an English manager to manage the English football team in Gareth Southgate and for him reaching the 1/4 finals of the Euros and hopefully on o another final, which i'm sure not one breast fed clueless clowns on social media with far too much time on their hands can ever achieve, not even on their XBoxes or Playstations Yes he was lucky, the play was dull and his tactics were poor, especially playing Tripper and Saka again . But the fact is he's a far better manager than i am so as an Englishman who am i to criticize him? The win rate against top teams is poor. The performances are consistently poor. In this Euros they've barely scraped through the group and Ro16 against incredibly easy opposition, and have played absolutely atrocious football. He doesn't know how to setup a team or adapt tactics to fix problems. He's the highest paid international manager, manages a top 5 squad and yet wouldn't be considered in the top 20 managers in international football.

Trippier hasn't been too bad, but he can't play with Foden on the left. Foden is trying to get inside to the same position as Bellingham. Gordon would solve the left side, with Eze as a sub. Palmer for Saka, after 60mins max. Get the players on the front foot. Sitting back offers no creation for chances.

This was not down to your selection. It was the media that pushed you Gareth. The moment trippier went off , the team livened up. Trippier is the weak link which you don't understand. Foden ,Toney, Palmer Saka Kane and Bellingham made the win possible.
