Awesome. I'm a physician who specializes in rehab and you're absolutely right. Sometimes (ok often). I see this every day (literally). People are so weak and sarcopenic (scientific term for muscle wasting) they cannot handle everyday type of weights. While this gives me a livelihood I'd rather people have more functional ability ( and I could concentrate on something else). Thank you. I believe we can fix almost anyone as well (if they want to be fixed).

I am glad you released this video. I had a mountain climbing injury years ago, and it took me years to get back on tracks. But when I started with 12 kg kettlebell, my neck and back hurt like hell. I was about to leave kettlbells, but i bought lighter ones. I did a time with 4kg (i found it good for stimulation, activation and posture. The only down side is that it is too light for feeling the clean). Then I moved to 6 kg, and now I start to feel a beneficial change on ly body. After a few monthes I'll go up to 8kg and so on. I live in France, and I wish I could find competition Kettlebells of that weight, wich is not the case. Everyone on the internet lift heavy bells, so I felt a little stupid and weak to be honest, and It took me a while to accept that if it is what is good for my body, then there is no problems with that. Thank you very much for this video and for all the informations you give us. I wish a good company was selling those types of competition Kettlebells in europe

Awesome man. Doesn't sound weak to me at all - embracing your limits and working long term to extending them into a stronger you sounds VERY strong to me. I hope to have your discipline, and will start my own programme soon that builds the basics after an injury. By the way I have competition kettlebells by crossmaxx which are beautifully colored and available in europe and in those weights. Bonne chance my friend!

Hi Mark just dropping by to give an update. I started your beginner programme back in April. 336 lb start weight. Today 268 lb. Fundamentally changed. Stronger more mobile. Plantar fasciitis dropped from an 8/10 to 1/10 pain level. Looking younger, sleeping better. Doing some of the more advanced KB work too. About 400 days left on my initial 600 day programme. Been swimming in the (very cold) North Sea here in England, walking, cycling and doing the mobilisation routines. I'm a new man Mark! Thanks for the inspiration. Must go, off to the gym (on my bike)!! Happy Xmas

I bought that BoS one a couple of months ago, not so much as a starter weight but more as a sort of "dummy" bell that I could use as a stand-in while trying to figure out more complex exercises (like TGUs or whatever), without the distraction of worrying about injuring myself if/when I get it wrong.

Magic. I have the BOS standard adjustable. I probably won’t need to go down for most exercises, but I think this is magic: so many people need this either due to their strength, mobility levels, and prior injuries. Plus, most of us need to shut down our egos. Since most KB lifts are ballistic in nature, lighter weights also make a lot of sense for even the strong amongst us.

The Bells of Steel kettlebell looks good and I like that it starts out as a lighter weight. That is just my impression as a deconditioned person that has made being in good condition a priority. I also like that Profesional Kettlebells are working on magnets to attach to their kettlebells. I'm thoroughly enjoying the ingenuity. And as someone that was born and raised in Florida where I'd sometimes snack on a piece of sugarcane. And who knows how imperative it is to have a sharp machete to cut down and peel apart the aforementioned sugarcane. I marvel at the fact that Mark has a vast collection of knives and machetes. None of which appears to have ever experienced being "dull."

Just a thought… Perhaps it's a good idea to revisit the weight selection video (you did one on KBs and clubs), add maces and "therapeutic" weights. I also think there should be some separation between one-handed and two-handed weight selection… For example, a 15 lb club is indeed plenty enough of a starter weight for a mildly fit male when operated with one hand, but when swung with two hands, it just doesn't prompt the correct muscle groups to fire.

I’ve never seen this 4kg bell would be a great beginner’s bell. I bought an 8kg bell during our Covid ‘lockdowns’ in Melbourne, Australia. It was made in China and was as rough as could be. Took lots of smoothing out the handle before i could use it. Professional size but has never felt as good as it should. I also have a 10 and a 16kg to use at home. I’m going to google “Bells of Steel”. So many people my age (80) put their bad backs down to age - actually shit posture.

a good mid price machete is a cold steel machete. i like the Latin model the most but im kind of a traditionalist. old navy machetes from ww2 are incredible. the have distal taper, which ive not seen on a modern manufacture machete. but they are 200 to 300 dollars. tramontina use to be great but the new one are absolute trash. cold steel is consistent with decent steel

Hi! I’m a disabled 60 yr old woman and I have been using the shitty kb’s as I’ve been hoping/praying someone would come out with a good lighter weight adjustable kb. So my question is do the magnets from Pro kettlebell for sure fit on this BOS? If so, thank you so much for letting me know. I need something better :)!
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman Жыл бұрын
I don’t have the magnets so I’m not sure yet,
@ProKettlebellWorkouts
@ProKettlebellWorkouts Жыл бұрын
Our magnets will work on any magnetic kettlebell but our 4kg kettlebells had to be made of aluminum to get them that light, since the iron is too heavy. So we have a steel plate inside the cavity of our 4kg and 6kg bells so our magnets will work in those. My guess is the BOS kettlebell is also made of a non-magnetic material since it’s even a bit larger than ours, but I haven’t checked their site.
