I bought it 20 years ago. Back in the days, it was made by KD tools. Now you can buy it with the swiveling head! Really a good tool ! I also use it to bolt on the struts mount !

I'm limited on space, so I just did some welding and grinding on an old breaker bar, then bent the handle. Might have to modify it again, but... I'm good 👍😊

Had that for years. My favorite tensioner tool. I also use the sockets to break loose bolts. Seriously. I use the shit out of it way beyond its intended purpose.

I just bought the 3/8 and 1/2 adapters and I use my 16 mm long mountain wrench and works just fine every day use

I think I just learned what I inherited and sitting in my toolbox. It’s 2 ratchet shanks welded together. Would allow me to use a wrench. But I drive an old truck and can get to my tensioner with a 10” extension on it.

A fast and almost free way is to stick an old cloth rag around the belt and pull it off. I'd do that all the time on ford diesels where the tensioner is buried. That trick works great and doesn't cost a couple hundred bucks

lifehack 101 - Volvo tensioner can be made out of a 1/2" to 3/4" socket adapter. Use a wrench on the 3/4" end which fits in the tensioner bolt head.

You can pull on the belt, then stick a bar on the tensioner to hold it

I'm convinced that engineers did this on purpose.

Or you can just take your hand and pull the belt down and insert a pin to hold the tensioner in place. R&R the belt pull on the new belt a little remove the pin and wala no headache or special tools required

For a serpentine belt replacement understandable but for a pulley just remove a motor mount and lower the engine slightly

I found motor mounts are warn jack the motor up it will fit

Or, you could just use the right ratchet, using a box wrench is an extension, or a torque wrench

Or just pull the belt down, the tensioner raises then stick a size 3 screwdriver through the tenstioner into the bracket and BOOM, tenstioner locked open for new belt and no need to spend 40-60 on a low pro

Did someone noticed the the tensioner does have a square shaped at de left side.... Indicator u can change the belt from under the hood with a adjustable wrench... 😅

It's a lot easier to just fire the bad engineer that designed this unless the bad engineer has a stake in the tool company.

They make tensioner wrenches just for this.

I’ve had this kit for many years and I don’t really like it much. The adapter that fits into the tool doesn’t stay it the tool. It always gets stuck in the tensioner. Then I have to try and pry it out with a screwdriver.

Grab the belt pull and save some money 💰

You can find a double on alradis

Or pull on the belt and put the blocking pin in.

Just grab a hold of it with your hand and pull. No big deal.

The extension bar you used is the actual tension bar you should be using just saying. It's called a flat tension bar

You still got the belt on. So just pull on the belt and the tensioner will move to where you need
