This was just supposed to be a little teaser just so fans can familiarize themselves with the new Animation Style and the young Tennyson's. This came out when alien force was going so they needed to show the audience that this movie was gonna take place with young Ben and Gwen just so the audience can understand their childlike banter (which was non existent by the time alien force came around since they bonded together)

maybe this is to show that they really got responsible with their powers when they grew up. because their fight in ultimate alien was about a serious subject and it wasn't as destructive as this one (even though ben turned into friggin' waybig in the ua fight)
