@@nthnthms1212 While, yeah, Kibler's most known for being an MtG hall of famer having won numerous MtG tournaments. To be fair, he did stream playing Hearthstone for a time, so those knowing nothing of his MtG background and just catching bits of Hearthstone streams would only really know him from that.

I mean Rafiq is one of the better commanders to argue Ben's point. The difference for Rafiq between 21 and 40 generally isn't very noticeable. Generally as long as there's not a bunch of lifegain running around it rarely comes up.

I find it’s usually a few cards/turns difference. Usually enough of a difference to take out the table vs the table taking you out. Just my experience

I absolutely ADORE Merieke Ri Berit! She was the first-ever rare that I opened from Ice Age, and I immediately made a deck based around her in a four-color deck that uses Fyndhorn Brownie, ALSO from Ice Age! It was terrible in tournament play (it was Black Summer, so...), but in casual play it was HILARIOUS.

Definitely fun. Honestly I don't get the fued with commander damage. It's a mechanic that no other format has, and the number for lethal was carefully chosen Imo. That's part of my inspiration towards believing that the lethal amount of infect should be changed from 10 to 13, putting it just out of range of skytherix and blightsteel colossus.

Commander damage is about as relevant as decking out. It’s probably not anyone’s goal but adds another dimension to your interactions and can unblock some stalled games

@@gatherer818 My Karlach Swordcoast Sailor deck also goes by commander damage. My play group pretty much told me to not use as is, because I am almost guaranteed to knock someone out soon after getting her out, thanks to some haste, and some basic other cards to boost her enough. And at that it would probably be the player that did increase their life.

I once had to get around a card that prevented loss of life but not damage, so when I did enough commander damage the player lost even though they didn't lose the life.

the problem with commander damage is that when people build around them they go so fast. take a cedh deck of godo for example or kalamax. you can die as soon as turn 3-4. some decks are still ramping at that turn.

Worse than commander damage is poison counters. I had over 60 life and still died from poison counters.

I just had a commander game where I had 227 life after a board wipe, Commander damage is incredibly relevant and that was a joke deck

Dargo and jeska say otherwise knocking people out as early as turn 2 and winning by 4 if not dealt with. Commander damage is super important in my opinion.🤷‍♂️
