Morris (1901-1970) is demanding millionaire businessman Walter Tyson. Diagnoed with a brain tumor, the irascible CEO is not used to getting his own way.
How innocent the times were. Notice how a cancer patient is able to puff away in a private room in front of his doctor!
That's the always wonderful Neva Patterson as Tyson's long suffering secretary. Neva had a long career on Broadway & TV. Often mistaken for Nina Foch, Neva is still with us at 88 though she hasn't graced the screen of late. Hello Neva, wherever you are!

@PlayIt4MeAgainSam I got your message and immediately checked the LA Times and saw Neva had passed. She was a lovely woman. I met her years ago in NY when she was starring in Romantic Comedy with Karen Valentine. She was a PRO, plain & simple. She was an actress who could command your attention away from the biggest stars whether it be Tracy & Hepburn or Hoffman & Redford. She will be well remembered.

Watch Chester Morris back in the day when he was opposite Jean Harlow in "Red-Headed Woman" (1932). Let me tell you, those two really sizzled. Hard to square his image then with the image of years later.

musicismagic. I So agree. I don't understand Why this show, gets such bad reviews. Vince Edwards was an excellent actor. He sure wasn't a coward.

I watched it as a boy and loved it. But there have been some pretty good doctor shows since then including St. Elsewhere, Chicago Hope, and ER.

I used to like Chester Morris as Boston Blackie (thief turned detective) in 40s B-movies. At the end, he had stomach cancer and overdosed on barbituates.

You have to admire Tyson for not being bossed around by tradesmen like Mr Casey.

And I thought Tyson was acting like that certified dumb-a*s tRUMP. Just another ignorant Republican! All about money and having a big mouth but lacking any real substance whatsoever!

The shame of it is Chester died under tragic circumstances at a time, rather late in his career, that he was gaining the critic's respect for his acting that he didn't get as frequently earlier. He was appearing in hit Broadway plays like Advise and Consent, Blue Denim and taking Jack Albertson's place for the final six months of the hit play, The Subject was Roses. He also made his first screen appearance in 12 years with a part in the film "The Great White Hope". Sadly, due to the cancer that was slowly killing him, his role was reduced and in fact, the film was released posthunously. Obviously, he was on the road to making a comeback as a seasoned character when fate intervened.
