What an absolute gem of a show. Roy was probably the best entertainer this country produced. I loved the Parkinson show with Buddy, Sammy, Kenny Everet and Roy, and the Lion in the box sketch. What a fantastic legacy! Wonderful

I was twenty at the time, three years older than Ben, and remember both Roy and Bruce when growing up. Especially the Record Breakers and the Generation Game. Now in my early fifties!

This came across when hopping KZfaq as you do Roy was a fellow Yorkshireman and proud of him I am a great believer that it was from the smoke filled Clubs and Pubs that gave Roy his illness as is proved today with the eventually banning of smoking in confined spaces I am not a smoker and can relate to a non smoker being uncomfortable around smoke but now it's Cannabis and Vapes how times change RIP Roy mate and all the best to his family

I remember an earlier TV show with Ben and his father. I think Ben played the trumpet. I mention this because it still, to this day, stands out in my mind the expression of absolute, unlimited parental love that was on Roy's face as he watched Ben playing.
