I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet. There were a few times the past couple seasons where they mic'd the reporters, just to go back to not being able to hear the questions the majority of the time

Good pick, arguably the best defensive D man in the OHL. Right handed, good size at 6'1 and a half might reach 6'2 and over 190lbs. From reading reports he sounds almost like a Chris Tanev clone.

@Katie-hb8iq I don't know, ever seen a Marner interview? Dude looks like he's going to cry evreytime. Matthews says um and uh every second word. Just kinda seems like he kept his tone up, seemed fairly comfortable in front of the mic which is not common for a rookie

Finally a fan of Phil. The leafs should have treated Phil with some respect. Shanahan didn’t even want a tribute video for Phil which is sad. They did it for bozac but didn’t do it for Phil because Phil had a blowout with Steve Simmons and that fool Dave feschuck. Shanahan mentioned some remarks in Sportsnet interview when he started in Toronto

@@cndnclassics5874 Defence usually takes longer to develop and he’s a defensive defensive man. 3 years including another year in junior this season he will be with the marlies full time Atleast 2 seasons and the next 2 will be split between the leafs and marlies till he’s a full time leaf I bet. Liligren spent 4 years with the Marlies the last year split between the leafs but he came straight from Sweden to the marlies after the draft.

@@cndnclassics5874 still a good pick, the guy they gave up at 23 was left handed, and if the leafs take time to develop him correctly he can easily become more valuable as a player as he gets older, and especially being defence first. Who knows maybe he can be like a Chris Tanev type player one day, you see how much teams want him every time he’s available

Leafs usually always going for tiny skilled guys.... I'm actually happy they weren't for a right handed Dman who is a hardworking player who will block shots and will be a solid defense first type of player!
