I first heard this gorgeous track coming through the open window of a neighbourhood house on my way to school back in 1960,I'm 70 now but for a couple of minutes I'm 12 again! Stellar Group!!!

Love the Drifters - I grew up with this music. So glad I was born in the 50's.

I woke up this morning humming and singing this. What a powerful voice that captures the story. I wish the story was longer. I could listen to Ben E. King and Sam Cooke all day.

This is one of the greatest Pop orchestrations I've ever heard. There is so much happening inside that mix, dueling male/female choirs, a Rock session band, orchestral string section...bells? How can it sound so good through the crap speakers on my laptop? It's a wonder of the world AFAIC.

I'm on an "oldies kick" in my car. Can't stop listening to Ben E. KING and THE DRIFTERS.

Even with all the many changes in group members over the years, The Drifters were a rock solid singing group. Hit after hit for a straight decade or more because every member of The Drifters had the voice and knew just how to use it. Not to mention Pomus and Shuman who wrote most of their great music. Always and still love all the wonderful music the "mighty" Drifters made.

The Drifters, This song is the one i remember most when I was only 4 years old back in Brooklyn NYC in 1960. It is because of this song I can remember back to being four years old and the year 1960. I am now 59. so how's that for a memory. I fell in love with his voice Ben E. and he defined one of the best era's of that group. 1959-61. he now joins the big 3 Leads of the Drifters. Clyde Mcphatter,(White Christmas)Rudy Lewis(On Broadway,Please Stay).now Ben E King. my favorite by Ben leading the drifters will always be Count the Tears. which bring back memories to the year 1960 and President Kennedy was in office. I remember seeing him in person seated on top of a man's shoulder from a crowd.

I love that the electric bass was mixed so prominently on this record. The background harmony vocals are superbly arranged, too.

Ben E. King was one of America's great singers. Back in his day you had to have talent to make it. Can't say the same for today.

I remember back in the seventies Ben E king being interviewed by the lovely Marie Garth, in the RJR studio in Jamaica,how I wished I could see what was going on ,because they seemed to be having so much fun!

11 years old at the time used to go to a little youth club and this was played loads ! a crackin' tune from the drifters thats stayed with me all thru the years ? but i never found out what it was called ? well ? thanks to utube and a music mate that's all changed now great track from the drifters hayday ! thanks for sharing regards
