I miss the screaming of "you were not the SAAAAAMMMMEEE" that occurs around 3 minutes in on the original... but this is still great.

What I love about this is that I first heard this song as a warmup piece in marching band (the piano chords make for an excellent exercise for front ensemble), and seeing the bit at the start where Ben coaches the crowd through the different chord parts feels really good.

In the 90s I knew Brick by Ben Folds 5. I knew nothing about Ben Folds until the Sing Off. When he did this song with the crowd on that show I thought it was awesome. And never really heard such a beautiful crowd part. This was about 2 months before my wife and I married. I checked out Rockin' the Suburbs and it is now one of my favorite albums of all time. My wife and I played The Luckiest as our first dance at our wedding.

Great performance. Its weird though, it sounds like his voice is doubled in some parts of the song like around 2:46 - 2:49 there’s obviously two voices because they’re not perfectly in tune with each other. I thought it may be a chorus effect but like I said you can hear two voices slightly different pitches. No knock on Ben, I love him and this performance, was just curious about the technical aspects of the recording and if anyone knows what’s up.
