Mr Kumar, PBS narrators have been speaking in US docos with this accent for 30-40 years. It's rather educated, posh, understandable by all.

I find that it insults the intelligence. But I'm not surprised that this is for the American Market, because they live in a reality tv world. It is certainly a pity that shows like this must be dummed down to attract them.
