This is a rare treat that some fans haven't seen. How is it almost 2024 and for me this is the first time seeing this performance. And after a decade of listening to him.. I love how he shows his heart, innocence, introspection wisdom and poetry all rolled into one. Top performance.

I abosolutely love the way Ben has grown as a musician but I really do miss the home styled folky Ben, India and the Bond bro's vibe they had.
@fredymendez8553 жыл бұрын
correct me if iam wrong but didt Bond and Howard have a fued ? because he does not tour with Ben and Nica Libres album was Ben with some colaboration with India. Bond helped produce alote of Every Kingdom tunes and sound. Its very different from forget where we were and you can tell the direction Howard was going for in Nica Libres as that album suprised many Howard fans and also disappointed many especially in Live shows. My NYC Nica Libres Tour was filled with chatter as many were disappointed he didt play his old tunes. I love Nica Libras but I forget where we were is my favortie. I will say tho i miss Indias background vocals in the new songs as that is missing. ALso in a article Ben stated he doesent wanna always play songs from every kingdom becasue he thinks they are boring lol his words . I think hes only saying that because that album made him huge and he toured performing those more often than any other tunes so musicians get bored.
@DelScully3 жыл бұрын
@@fredymendez855 Yeah, they basically split up because of artistic differences! I'm sure there was more to it than that which is sad because they all seemed to be one happy family for awhile, but its the way of life! if you look at the Bond bro's collaborations and people they've worked with since Ben, it is mainly folk styled music and Chris pushed a lot of that sound onto Ben I feel. IMO ben takes a lot of inspiration from the people he is around as well, like with Chris Bond, he was channelling the folk aspect of music, and Bon Iver type vibes, where as when Mickey Smith came in he started to get a lot more experimental, which seems to be right up Mickey's alley with A Blaze of Feather. And IFWWW was his departure from the happy folk sound, and more towards his Burren type vibes but with more electric. I get why people would be a little upset with him not playing older songs, but I respect him more than any other artist for not doing it. There are era's to a musician and it seems the ones that are set on selling out and fame are the ones that cant let the past go, Ben is always moving forward in different directions with his music and the shows are supposed to be a big elaborate art piece, hence why he only plays the new songs or renditions of the older ones to match the vibe. Ben is a very genuine person, and I think he wouldn't enjoy playing songs from an album and vibe that was a life time ago for him!
@davidjarvis42973 жыл бұрын
@@DelScully maybe one day in the future Ben will sit down with a long history of music behind him and he will play a setlist including some of the every kingdom tunes in a space where he can celebrate them for the start they gave him.
@DelScully3 жыл бұрын
@@davidjarvis4297 Looking back at this comment I made, I actually am so happy with the way his music has gone, and respect him for not going back to the old stuff. It would be nice to see him do this forsure but I feel like Ben always goes into a certain space when performing songs and that is what gives them magic almost. It'd be hard for such a genuine person to perform a song he does not relate to anymore! I think that is why even when he does perform some older songs he changes them up and makes them sound more relevant!

26:45 that's me and my two mates radders and alex who made that drunk video Ben's talking about. Was outside the campus graveyard / library of Queen Mary University of London. Truth is we went to see Fink and Ben + India + Chris were supporting as an opener and got hooked. Not only does his music throw me back to my first adult solo years and most reflective teenage moments but we followed him everywhere over the next few years. Started with a 50 person solo gig at The Underbelly in Hoxton Square, then we went to Dublin, Brighton, London, Zurich, Paris, Melbourne and Geneva. Mad truth is I was a journalist in Geneva for Antigel where he played, and got to interview him on the radio while the band was on the road at a pitstop at a petrol station - all thanks to Owen Davies (his manager if I remember correctly). Surreal really, but true. Cherry on the cake was post success and seeing him live at the Royal Albert Hall last year. Bloody mad! Somehow my life track sound is massively influencd by Ben Howard, India Bourne and Chris Bond. Thank you, your craft has gifted me real pleasure
Would love to go back to a time when Every Kingdom was released! (Looking back from here in 2021). Thanks for uploading this. 👍🏻
