Bench Vise Stand / Press
To use my vise when I need it, I make this stand with the feature that I can put and press it to the workbench but can easily remove it when I don't need it.
I cut the ¾" plywood from which I am going to take the pieces for the stand.
The width of the base is 26 cm.
To fix the base I will use star knobs, and to make them I make 4 circles of 55 mm with a compass.
And at the 4 circles I make 6 marks where I am going to drill with a 10 mm drill bit.
I am going to use a ¾" drill bit to hide the head of the screw.
I use the 55 mm or 2 1/8" drill bit to drill only the half of the hole without reaching the end so as not to damage the wood underneath.
I drill 4 holes with the 1 ¼" bit.
I turn the wood over and drill to remove all the pieces.
I sand all the pieces and place the 3" screw to add the epoxy glue on the head of the screw.
I glue the 1 ¼" piece with carpenter's glue and press on the nut.
I let the glue on the knobs dry and sand my pieces.
I drill two holes through the table to place the threaded insert.
When I placed the insert it was flush with the table which I decided to change by using a countersink drill bit to lower the insert and hide it, as it could damage the panels I put on top of the workbench.
This vise holder can be put in and taken out as needed in your woodworking shop.
