Really appreciate your “physical” review of this knife. The fact that you actually put it to use and physical accomplished tasks with it. I get so tired of these table top reviews in which the reviewer just goes on and on........ I don’t own a Benchmade, but this model has caught my eye. It takes a lot for me to drop over a hundred dollars on a knife. This knife is unique enough in design and function in a practical since that I’m compelled to own it, specially after your review. Thanks

$130 light duty knife. Can't you find a knife for way less money, that is perfectly equal to light duty work? It's too much money for too little knife. Do you really need S30V to slice an apple and packing tape? They're selling you pride of ownership in S30V, and the Benchmade name.

Interesting how he felt the need to use two hands (second hand pushing on the back of the blade) when cutting the rope on the table top. Is there not enough backbone to bear down on the blade? I've handled these in a store but just can't make myself buy it. I want to like it. It's aesthetics are awesome.

I really do like this knife, perhaps my favorite in the present Benchmade line-up, and I think it would make for a perfect urban EDC folder. I certainly wouldn't take it on a camping trip, or pound the shit out of it to split wood. Unfortunately, I think the knife is way overpriced - at half that amount, perhaps. Nowadays, there's just too many similar knives that serve the same purpose at a fraction of the cost. For example: the K-Bar Dozier. 🤔

anthy aguirre I agree with what has been said already. However, if you only have a $20 bill or that is all you want to pay, I feel it is hard to beat the Ka-bar Dozier. The most solid sub-$20 knife ive used, excellent ergos, blacked out pocket clip and can be opened/closed one handed once you break it in. The downsides are that the thumb stud has pretty agressive gimping (bit uncomfortable with extended openings) and it has a budget steel in Aus 8. However, i used it at my part-time job to cut rubber and rope constantly with decent wear. I would swipe it on a ceramic rod once or twice a week and it worked great.

Chris, I would call this an Emergency Bug out knife as it would be useful in such cases as when you are in your car and you brake down or when you have an emergency and need to hit one of your Bug out cashes. It's cheap enough that you can get a few of them for each Bug out cash you make so that there's always some kind of blade in the kit but is sturdy enough to perform the simple task of a larger knife. As for sharpening the blade, CrazyIrishMedic, you can get diamond sharpeners off Ebays for dirt cheap. This will help you in keeping the blade sharp in the field. And Note the Diamond knife sharpeners are better suited for the Harder steel on the market for Sharpening. I would say that for Batoning, this would be an in an Emergency use knife only. As a EDC for out right every day use. A.K.A. Utility use. This knife is right up that alley as it will out perform in that area.

I just don't understand the allure of benchmade. $115 for for s30v and a polymer grip? Yeah it's U.S. made but so is buck and they've got 3.25" s30v blades with g-10 for almost half the price. Buck has quality control issues but so does benchmade. So what is it I'm not seeing? I'm not trying to be negative just trying to understand benchmade.
@DropForgedSurvival
@DropForgedSurvival 7 жыл бұрын
Im here to test the new and see what is what. I dont make anyone buy anything. That is all their prerogative. Buck has too many blades I dont like so I just leave them be. I wont lie I was intrigued by a 1.85oz knife that is supposed to be tough.

I was just trying to gain some insight into this brand, A LOT of people say benchmade is the best folding knife maker but I never hear them say why it is the best ( especially the 940) I thought you might know. I don't like buck too much either, cold steel, kershaw and kizer are my go to brands.
@DropForgedSurvival
@DropForgedSurvival 7 жыл бұрын
The 940 is a gentlemans knife in my opinion. I personally dont like it too much. The Brand is a solid one overall. Cold Steel, Some Benchmades, and im still tracking down my 3rd go to. "Gerber, Schrade, and Buck" are currently not on my go to list at all.
@RevHiker
@RevHiker 7 жыл бұрын
Mt. Baldwin part of the reason that benchmade costs more is because all their knives are US made. Other companies have a ton of knives made in Asia which have huge profits and allow them to sell their US knives at lower profits. You're also paying for outstanding warranties, lifesharp, and great customer service. Also, not all made in the US labels are created equal. Many have foreign parts and materials, and are assembled here with some domestic parts. Benchmade is all US steel and parts. I've had a ton of knives, and I always come back to BM.

Not yet. If the knife is popular enough. Im sure they will drop a couple sprint runs.

what is it supposed to be, probably a joke for naive or snobs Ka-bar 4062 will do the same for much less money. I don't see what to admire here benchmade 535 is a neat knife not worth the price

When and if you ever purchase a good benchmade with s30v steel or above you will then understand the difference between quality and for sure how long the better steel will hold an edge ...

@@jamesstrickland2872 I’ve bought 3 benchmades now and I can conclude that they are all way overpriced especially the 940. All had qc issues too.

@@jamesstrickland2872 everyone kept telling me how great they were. So I figured by the third one I purchased (the triage funnily enough, which is the best benchmade I’ve owned so far in my opinion) would be the knife that finally proved them right. The omega springs in my mini grip broke. My 940 was crazy thick behind the edge. Never had any issues sharpening s30v before, but that 940, fuck that. Then the omega springs broke in it. My triage is still going strong but I never carry it because those springs are just going to break when I need the knife most. And considering that my Kabar dozier was only 20 bucks and has done everything I’ve ever needed it to, I have concluded that benchmade is in fact, criminal with their pricing.
