Might be worth noting that the Presidio 2 CF Elite has Benchmade's larger omega springs, meaning that they are essentially longer than springs on, say, the 940, and will be under less stress when compressed and, theoretically, less likely to break. The washers are also larger. I like the simple, rugged construction of this knife, the size is great for edc, the handle is neutral, and all at a price less than the Bugout despite having all the same materials but more of all those materials.

Lol... I’m sure it’s just my shit luck but I’ve only owned 2 Benchmades now. I bought a 940 and 29 days later one of the omega springs broke. Luckily, it was still within the stores warranty time so they exchanged it for me hassle free. AND, just to sweeting the deal, they didn’t have another 940 so I paid the difference and bought the 940-1. So far so good and I’m not worried that it will happen again. I love my Benchmade's. This one, for the price, gives you more than the bugout. (In this price range, the Hogue Deka gives way more with G10 and CPM20CV than the Bugout.) I like the Bugout but for the money, this and the Griptillian are far better priced for exact same material. Glad to see some of their other models getting a little more attention. I have never had a problem with my Omega springs but like you said, more parts may mean more failures. Great review and I am looking forward to the Mini Adamas when they finally get fully stocked!

That material is commonly known as CFRP - Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic. It's pretty common in the auto industry and I'm certain others, so It might be new to Benchmade but it's not a new material. The material replaces an aluminum handle so I suspect they are trying to address any skeptics. I've had one of those for a few months and it's nice. Feels good in my hand and it has a nice, long deep-carry clip, and it's priced well for a BM. The blade is mostly similar to the Bugout so it might be a great alternative for someone that finds the Bugout too thin. I like this more than my Griptilian
@Painterrap

I have this exact knife and honestly I was much like you in the past, you know, I want some kind of highly "durable" grip material like G10, Titanium, or even a really well done aluminum like 7075. My understanding of the grip material, putting it simply, is that you can take a polymer and add in reinforcing material. This type of construction is frequently used in the firearm industry where the frames of pistols are constructed from glass reinforced nylon. Major firearms companies like Glock, S&W, Springfield Armory, and many others use this material in firearm production. So in this case with the Presidio 2 you have what is also likely a form nylon that’s reinforced using carbon fiber as opposed to glass. With all the other stuff said this knife has changed my mind and might be the best EDC I have ever had. The balance is just about perfect and the blade is super tough! The knife has metal under the grips making up the frame of the knife and you can see it’s been heavily relief cut but still maintains very useable strength. To me this knife is the best of both worlds when it comes to strength vs weight comparison. If you pick the Presidio 2 up you will not be disappointed.

Just want to throw this out there to show how much abuse the axis lock can take - I just replaced a broken omega spring on a friend’s 154cm griptillian which has been a job site work knife for MANY years. The knife itself is due to be retired soon as it’s been resharpened a bunch to the point it’s getting pretty thick behind the edge. Keep the mechanism reasonably clean, lubricate periodically, and the knife will do right by you for a very long time.

I have four benchmade knives the CF-elite bugout, the mini griptilian, mini Osborne, and the mini presidio 2 CF-elite. And to my surprise the mini presidio is the best one I own. The mini Osborne is great but is small the presidio is way better then the more expensive bugout. The presidio fits my hand perfectly feels great in the hand has a great blade. If anybody asks me which benchmade should I buy I would say the mini Presidio. Absolutely love it.

This is a great knife. I rotate the blacked out version with a 940-2 and a Sage5 lightweight for my weekly EDC's. Had a Bugout but it didn't feel substantial enough. @@nateperkins5036 I'd have to say that I like the Sage 5 more. I carry that knife the most during the work week. The ergo's and action are fantastic and the blade is really slicey. I was just playing with the mini Presidio last night tho and was thinking I need to carry it more. It has a great action too and she has a slimmer profile in the pocket. Both are great EDC knives. One side note, if you're into US made knives, the Sage is made in Taiwan. I mostly buy US knives but this is an exception. In the end, I'd say get both. It's always nice to have choices. Then get the large Presidio. That knife is bad-ass too and it's a steal for $130.

The weight and sturdiness together in this knife is a big help to make this knife flexible with places to be carried. Sturdy provides the ability to use it for whatever you need to. Weight provides the ability to be carried many many places up the point you can wear athletic shorts and carry this without it ending up dropping your shorts🤣🤣🤣

Finally! Been waiting for you to review one of these! Man I don't know what it is, the full size, the mini in both aluminum and cf are a few of my top favorite edc. They feel great, blades are great, they look great, these are one of those that you pass up a few times then once it's in hand, it just fits. I will say, I'll save some "wear" on my other "better" knives and use this one, except my aluminum first production I got last month somehow from smokey Mt. Thanks Complex!

9:59 ... true, the more parts the greater the likelyhood of a failure. But then there's also redundancy: How likely is it that both springs will fail at the same time? And even if both springs should fail, it still won't render your knife entirely useless, provided you have something like a couple of toothpicks or matches or a paperclip to jam in behind the axis-rod to keep your blade locked in the open position. Try that with a compression- or ballbearing-lock😒

I manage a smokeshop and use my knives (usually one at a time) to do cardboard destruction & delicate de-packaging cuts. Randomly threw the absolute shit outta my benchmade 505 minigrip aka spyde-grip; stabbed an expensive backpack, but the knife is totally fine.Great blade shape S30v, factory edge lasted a very long time with occasional stroppage. For a while it was absolutely my top budget knife, mostly because spyderco had yet to release much good stuff in the 90-120 range. even now i think the lowest you can get a manix, or para is like 135ish. Link me if there's a better deal though. id love to do a video on the para3 I'm make adequatemedia on tiktok
