i think this is the model that starts people's collection. For the non-knaf nerds this is probably the one-and-only knife one owns.

All I can say is way to go Benchmade! This knife took everyone by surprise in 2017 and people are still talking about how the scales can be flexed in hand in 2024!

Benchmade fan. Hard to buy new now with price increases. Either crazy sales or secondary for me. The Bugout is just a different variety focused on lightweight. Mind blowing before and at the frontier at the time. Now there are many knives that compete in that category.

Benchmade is a good company but there prices lately can be painful. The bugout is definitely a classic tho. Great vid!

I miss the model the Bugout replaced, a numbered model I don't remember, paid like $150for it, worth like $700 now as they haven't been made since 2017ish or so. it was nicer, had amazing action, lighter better looking, better materias. F Benchmade. You're the man though Dirk

Big benchmade fan here. I probably have 30 or so. Its not the price for me that keeps me from buying their current models, as I like supporting this company since they have zero models made in china, unlike spyderco. But they now have no models in their catalog, except the 940 line, that I like. Oh, and I'm old enough to remember when the bugout came to market at 130 bucks

I was gifted the white & black finish Mini Bugout last year from Ed Harrison. My first Benchmade. They're just to expensive for me. And they are so lightweight,i almost don't like it as much as i love my gift lol. I'm back from my non-internet service unwanted subatical! It was rough! Now i gotta try to catch up! 😹

Hey Dirk, The only time I've paid 200.00 for a Bugout is the SMKW Exclusive and it came with G10 handles and CPM 4V or 3V and I think that's what the Bugout should've been from the start for around 135.00 but just my opinion lol😊

No point of comparison with the VC Edge, but we'd have to start with the price. The Bugout is great for what it is designed to do. I don't agree on the raise of prices in general, cause it really doesn't pair up with inflation. About pricing and where it's made well, wages are not the same around the world and that's why companies end up going overseas. Good topic. Agreed about Benchmade prices but prices all around are on the rise even the overseas ones

It just doesn’t seem like Benchmade wants to give more for the money. If that knife came with aluminum scales at the same price I would probably own 3 by now. But because I would have to buy aftermarket scales to make it the knife that it should be it just doesn’t make sense to buy a Bugout. I own other Benchmade knives and this one model I am holding off until I get the best deal to buy the scales that BENCHMADE a should have sold on the knife. They sell because the after market parts are pretty good and make the knife very good. Thanks again for sharing and to Wild about sporting goods!

still not my jam- in my view overrated and overpriced. Some are nice once modded
